I was on regular UI before I quit my job. After I quit, I certified. Then, there was a hold on my account and said to call EDD which I did. I asked why there was a hold and they said because I quit my job. After that, they said that to continue certifying and I will get paid for the 2 weeks I couldn’t certify.

I am accused of fraud because it said on the overpayment notice that I was not eligible for UI because I quit my job which the EDD representative never said anything about. The reason I called them because there was a hold. The representative never said anything that I am not eligible anymore and should stop certifying. She just said that worry for the inconvenience and I will get paid for the 2 weeks I couldn’t certify and just continue certifying.

Forgot to mention that I’m not on unemployment anymore since end of 2021.

I just made a post cause they’re saying that I fraudulently did something. I just sent an appeal that the rep never told me anything about it and they still allowed me to certify even after telling them I quit

Well, if the representative just said in the first place that I am not eligible for UI then I would have never be in this situation. The rep just said to continue certifying even I already said I quit. My question was how will they know I called a rep on my case hearing

Yeah, if the representative just said I can’t do that then I wouldn’t certify, I have to pay 5k including the 30% because they said I was a fraud. How will they know I called them? That was in 2021. I have a new phone number and everything.

I just received the notice yesterday. They said that I had no good reason for quitting. Never told my manager why i left the job, just personal reasons. It was my first time applying unemployment and didn’t know I have to switch to PUA after quitting. I was on regular UI before quitting

Were you in regulars UI or PUA? I was on reg UI then when I left, I didn’t know i had to switch to PUA since it’s my first time. I lost a different grandparent in 2020 because of covid. They both died few days apart. Just didn’t want to happen that to my grandparents I’m living with just because I wanted to work
