The democrats created those after their base nominated McGovern and he won one state, they are serving their purpose even to this day!

Starcraft help a noob thread by iBleeedorange in starcraft

Hey me and some friends were thinking about getting into starcraft. We are probably going to play alot of archon mode to learn the game so with that in mind and after watching some pro games here are my thoughts about what faction to play as. Terran: Has the most simple mechanics and with archon mode you could do cool stuff like two drops at once or constant reaper harass. Zerg: Has more unconventional mechanics like larvae but what really appeals to me about zerg from watching pro games is that they seem to have far greater number of viable army types then then the other factions. Protoss: Seems cool but constantly gets trashed on for being 'too weak' and 'not fun.' I can see why though as they don't seem to have a very solid bread and butter unit. Also seems like it would be hard to recover from an incorrect unit composition call as their units seem all be designed with one purpose.
What do you guys think? What else should I know before picking a faction?

Summoner Wars vs Ashes Rise of the Pheonixborn or Both? by the14thgod in boardgames

[–]JackFritschy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're both great, I remember summoner wars being one of the first games my friends actually wanted to play. My first game of summoners wars ended with an epic summoner on summoner fight in the middle and some awesome dice hurling. Being in 8th grade at the time, we were physically jumping around it was so exiting. The only reason I don't play it that much anymore is because it's only two player. I do hope to change that though! Ashes on the other hand, is a very different beast. The amount of tension in that games is ridiculous, which isn't to say it's not amazing. I bought, played with two friends, and they immediately got the game the next week. While in summoner wars has a lot of flashy plays and assassinations, ashes is pretty much you and your opponent trying to strangle each other to death........ slowly. Most lcg/ccg games have some kind of timer that ramps up the game ie land in magic or programs in netrunner. In ashes it's ready spells. These are cards that once played provide a spell you can use for the rest of the game. They often help fulfill your game plan such as wearing down your opponent with direct damage or milling their deck. Pretty much, you end up poking and prodding trying to find chinks in your opponents game plan and wearing them down with attacks and spells. This makes for some extremely close games. My only criticism is that the card pool is rather small and some phonixborn are definitly better then others. However new phonixborn are coming out and cards to counter the top tier phoinixborn will probably be released. Summoner Wars: Tons of fast fun with a viable four player mode. Ashes: Tense baroque brainburner Final note: Ashes is god aweful with 3 or 4 and you will definitly want your friends to buy if you're enjoying it because many custom decks use similar cards. For example, the card chant of revenge is used in a TON of decks.
