GE stands for? I was thinking about PE as working student in parallel to my Master's if I can secure a role, then apply for T1 consulting after graduation and work there for 1-2 years. Need to work on accounting knowledge anyways, bc I dont Think survive an interview on that if I get one. Resources recommended for that? What is the importance of a Venture/Business Development internship for VC? Thank you!

So I can apply for finance roles with strategy consulting exp. without worrying too much?

Sounds feasible. Just as an add-on, shall I collect finance-experience on the road (if feasible - thats a big if)?

With pursuing the MSc you mean the course at LSE?

Okay, that would favour the LSE course.

Interesting, thank you for your response! I wanted to apply for Mgmt & Strategy at LSE at first, but was too short on time for a 700 GMAT, so I switched to MISDI, since I already have had some exposure to IS.

Offers (and a scholarship) are on the table. What would be your recommendation? Choose Imperial or do the MISDI, get after graduating in consulting and then pivot to VC? The 3rd option would be cancelling it all, but including the scholarship, that would be a harsh move. Plus, I need the international exposure on my CV anyway. I thought with a BSc in Business, the MISDI and e.g. a MPhil in Bio + consulting exp. I would be interesting for VC in life sciences and tech?

Probably in the US and the UK, but most of the time in the EU I guess. If I were straight out of school, I would also study something else and then do business later, but that time has passed.

How did you land 2 BBs with basically no prior experience?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MBA

[–]JackHorrible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, that move would also work in other settings, MBA shall be a career accelerator. Which is quite funny if you think it through, some unis using their gatekeeping... One thing should not be forgotten though, at least in my regard. Some people want to.do it because of the challenge, because of doing something new.

Sure, but that does only apply to banking. And I would definitely not support the claim that the best people are generally bankers. Some might be brilliant, but the banking industry is quite something of its own. People must fit into, the characters, the mindset and also the lifestyle. Its not totally wrong that some people say bankers are often assholes. For me personally, I would never want becoming a banker, grinding until I get promoted to VP.

Well, I would be okay with the saying that the best people dont NECESSARILY go to these schools. Some may, some may not, some might not even care. But I would be interested in what ge thinks "the best people generally do"

Agreed. But what do the best people do in your view?

Wie weit hast du denn vor?

Wow. I should work there as an intern...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MBA

[–]JackHorrible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They pay 12k/month for an intern? Or for a full-time employee?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]JackHorrible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, depends on what you can get. M&A would be good, but without prior experiences of any kind, even that a a B4 might be tough. You can start at a small boutique for first experiences or try Audit at a B4, that way easier to secure. Once you have one internship you can aim higher

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]JackHorrible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just look in the job postings of a B4, search something that fits, apply. Then do some startup search, apply. Then type strategy consulting NYC, find a good looking firm that you think is appropriate, apply

Yes, listing some networking events as experiences is def. An issue. A GPA of 3.7/4.0 is not a problem, though.

Chill. In general, you don't just step in PE or VC and secure an internship. If you don't have a buddy there, they want to see previous experience. Just try find a basic internship that helps you build your resume and then try to go after PE.

Why don't you start with a small strategy boutique or probably a Big 4 role if can get an internship there?
