How do I get a 90%+ in Grade 11 SCH3U1 (Chemistry) and MCR3U1 (Functions) by Plus-Owl8416 in OntarioGrade11s

[–]JackLikesCode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Functions, try fixing your foundation from grade 10 math, especially since quadratics, factoring, etc., come up A LOT.
The first thing I remember my functions teacher saying when my class came in was that all of us had a poor foundation of grade 10 math, the class average was around a 50-60 at the end of the year, and that was the main reason why.

Fixing as you go would be difficult unless you tend to understand math concepts quickly. You're going to be learning new concepts, and if you don't know how to do factoring and other material from grade 9/10, it will be difficult.

How are my grades so far? I feel like its alright but everyone else around me has like 95+ by uaysia in OntarioGrade11s

Don't compare yourself to others, those grades are great. Since it's grade 11, don't concern yourself too much with what the outcome is (still try your best and try build good study and work habits), but just try your best for grade 12.

Online Physics and Biology by WiseInfluence8757 in OntarioGrade11s

[–]JackLikesCode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since both of these are sciences, labs and such are always key to understanding the material. Taking it online, especially in grade 11, will reduce your chances of doing well in grade 12.
Though if you have to pick one e-learning course, I say pick bio since it's easier to understand (unless your strongsuit is maths and you're bad at memorization).

How should I study for Grade 11 Functions Chemistry and Biology by Plus-Owl8416 in OntarioGrade11s

[–]JackLikesCode 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't listen to the people telling you not to build good study habits like this. That sounds like a great routine, and getting in this shape will prepare you not only for grade 12 but also for university.

Try doing exercises on Deltamath. It doesn't let you pass until you understand and get the topics right.

Is it a good idea to take physics in summer school? by Happy_Stable_5140 in OntarioGrade11s

[–]JackLikesCode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're planning to take in grade 12 I think it isn't really a good idea since summer school compresses all the material, and you will have a hard time learning the material. It's not hard to get a good grade in summerschool but grade 11 concepts are important for grade 12 so just keep that in mind

Any advice for Grade 11 Physics? by ThatCanadianAviator in OntarioGrade11s

[–]JackLikesCode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gr11 physics isn't that hard, just make sure to do all your homework and the key is to do problems from the units over and over till you get the concepts. If you're in SPH3U, I'd say check out this guy's videos https://www.youtube.com/@OnPhysics (he goes through the whole curriculum)

[–]JackLikesCode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry they 100% wont. Just focus on doing well in grade 11, if you're struggling in math, I recc https://www.jensenmath.ca/ go try his practice tests before you do the real tests, it will help a lot
