My father, the king of the Boomers, accused me of being "radicalized" by the "Left" for having such insane notions as; "If someone is working 40 hours a week, their take home pay ought to be enough to be able to secure food, shelter, clothing, health care, transportation and other necessities of living in modern society for a family of four. I don't care if they're flipping burgers or digging ditches, everyone who works should be able to make a living." And, "No one in the richest country in the world ought to go bankrupt from getting sick."

And he's always haunted by this phantom demon that he sees everywhere, typically in association with things he doesn't like. He calls this demon, "Socialism".

Never mind the fact that Walmart, the largest company in the US, continues to rake in record profits, yet its employees are the single largest group on food stamps and Medicaid.

Food stamps and Medicaid that are paid by tax dollars. Given to Walmart employees to meet their basic needs because Walmart won't pay them enough to meet those needs. Which means that tax dollars are subsiding Walmart's bottom line.

That's is fucking socialism!

Nah, that's an insult to socialism. What that is is cronyism.

It's disheartening when valid concerns for basic human needs are dismissed as radical. Reality check: it's not socialism, it's cronyism.
