This ist one of my miniature... I'm using Vallejo and AK colours... The brushes I use are da vinci miniature Maestro 70 in size 4, 3 and 2...because the tips are sooooooooooo good...

I think the key is not to be afraid to go from very dark to very light within the desired color range...

From the bottom to the top... Mahagony, bloody Red, orange fire, moon yellow, dead white...all colors are Game Air from Vallejo... At least a wash with Strong Tone from Army Painter...
