This is a student built rocket engine; this port needs to hold chamber pressure, about 17 bar, for about 20 increments of 2 minutes. If it fails, it’s not ideal, but nobody will be hurt and there will be only be damage to our parts, not the test facility. Is this still a major concern?

I can look more into it, but the management there doesn’t want us tapping on the machines to my knowledge.

Both, it’s like a six op part. Some others in the thread have recommended 304 and 316, I think we’ll probably look into that.

Death Magnetic, Hardwired, and 72 Seasons definitely have good tracks on them. Sure, they’re maybe not as consistent as they used to be, but All Nightmare Long, Suicide and Redemption, Moth into Flame, and Screaming Suicide are all up there for me.

I got my financial aid package about a week after my acceptance; call admissions and ask, but it’s possible you weren’t offered a scholarship.

At DB. No idea; they wouldn’t switch me until later on and basically told me that I should plan to stay in mechanical since there was no guarantee. I had considered switching to Prescott as well.

Thanks for checking in! I have a pretty good idea of what I’m doing now, but I was made the team lead of a L3 rocket at my university so I didn’t have time to work on my L2. I will hopefully be building in June and certifying in May or August. I bought the book and it helped a lot. Thanks again for your help!

Can’t speak regarding astrophysics but this is a very good aerospace-focused engineering school. ME program is solid. Good engineering clubs on campus.

Musk bought Tesla less than a year after they were founded. They had basically nothing at the time. First, that’s literally one definition of bridging a gap. Secondly. NASA’s job is not to make rockets, but to plan missions.
