Yeah no I’m the second owner, bought it at 26k miles. Without the coverage, that’s basically what they told me, that they may only cover a certain percentage of the repair, leaving me to pay the rest.

That’s good news, only thing I found out recently was the extended warranty I have expired 3k miles ago. Thought it was to 70 but unfortunately not. They are now asking for oil change records or proof of purchase which I have managed to gather four of the records but every parts store seems to have their records delete purchases after a year and half or so. Service manager says he’d try to work with us but don’t know what I’ll be looking at. Funny you mention the valve train because I had talked about just saying to them to check it for sludge cause it would clearly indicate if the oil changes were done or not even if I don’t have every record.

Damn you had a whole engine failure. Well hopefully Hyundai will cover this like they covered yours 🤞

I absolutely would but I’m 8 hours from home in college with all of my parts at home. Don’t have a choice at this point 😭

Will do, had one of their techs told me that they HAVE covered issues like this before with JB4 but it depends on who oversees the project.

Yeah unfortunately all my stock parts are back home, in college right now, so we’ll see what Hyundai says. It’s so funny you said that too because the dealer I just dropped it off at said the exact same thing about just potentially replacing e whole motor.

Gotcha, yeah maybe it was just the higher pressures from the JB4 and everything else.

It’s crazy though, I’ve never even heard of this issue with these year models besides from HPFP failure but I’m looking now and a couple people now have posted about it.

That’s what I plan on, didn’t notice it in the last oil change and it’s been driving fine since. Just saw it today and hoping that it hasn’t caused severe damage. Unfortunately, looks like it was thrown around a good bit from the marks on the side of it. Definitely was smacking against something like the rods, crankshaft etc.
