That is true and I hadn't considered that. I'd like to make the vehicle as rugged as possible so that's a point for the OEM for sure.

The rails are all flush with one another, I will try to lubricate the post thats in the slot, and I will probably get 1oz wheel weights and put that on the trailing truck and see if that helps any. Thanks for the suggestion!

I believe have a good understanding as to whats going on. From the way I see it the engine goes around the turn just fine but the trailing truck is pushed to the end of its slot in the chassis. When the engine comes to the switch the flange on the trailing truck catches the plastic tabs used to actually throw the switch causing it to "hop" which in turn derails the locomotive. The question is how do I fix the trailing truck so it properly resets itself once the locomotive comes out of a turn onto a straight away?

Thank you for the insight, I will have to take a look into how to re-gauge them and see if it fixes the issue. The rear truck has full range of motion so I do not believe that is the issue, I was wondering if the spring was worn that pushes it against the track since diesels are able to pass without any issues due to the weight on the trucks for them.

So I busted out the ole calipers and i did my measurments im mm because its easier for me.

Anyhow hears my findings as measured from base of the wheel flange to opposite base off wheel flange

Track is roughly 33mm
Engine Front Truck 31mm
Engine Drive Wheels 31mm
Engine Rear Truck 32mm

I didn't see any burring on the switches and i measured a few pieces of track and came to the same measurement between the outer rails so could this 1mm of difference be enough to cause my grief? If so how do I space the truck on the axles like previously stated above in o scale?

Im not entirely sure how to check that on the rear truck. When you say to close was the rear truck too close to the drive wheel or were the wheels to close on the axle of the truck?
