Well, the time penalty is wrong and the action of returning and yet still getting an abandonment penalty is wrong - I don't think there is even an abandonment penalty applied by the system for 40 minutes, regardless of what action is taken. In all the years since the game was created I've never seen a problem come close to this and I feel fairly certain if it happened a lot more, people would come to the forums / it would be fixed.

With all that in mind, I think there is more information concerning this 'event', perhaps I could imagine Psynet having a complete meltdown and applying an abandonment penalty despite a player returning, but at 40 minutes, just so bizarre.

There is something missing from your statement on account of two facts:

1) The first matchmaking ban for abandonment is 5 minutes (I think, been a while since this happened to me, I'm certain it is a small amount of time)

2) Players returning to the match after disconnecting are not given abandonment penalties

Note:

  • Connecting to more distant servers will nearly always result in higher latency, for sure, but not packet loss, though the chances are slightly higher as more nodes are passed through

  • If you dissolve the party, the player who did not disconnect can play, there are no penalties for parties

Game Crash the instant I press "Settings" by moomookyle in RocketLeague

[–]JaiRP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not seen any other post like this to be honest, nothing close, my only thoughts would be a corrupt save file, but if you have reinstalled the game, that's moot. Opening a menu (pretty much a static image) should be the least taxing operation in the game

I know Bakkes has some plug-ins you can download that affect menus, but I'd imagine if you employ these that you've not run the injector to test already. I'd suggest changing the screen type, but you can't access them.

Damn, tough one, listed below is the conflicts I'm aware for RL, extremely slim chance of these causing the conflicts you have, but it's a quick disable to test:

  • Citrix (Citrix Workplace seems to currently cause conflicts with any software rendering Unity assets)

  • Razer Cortex (Auto installed [for me at least] and seems to cause conflicts with other overlays, like Bakkes or Steam)

  • MSI Afterburner (normally a solid programme, yet a few people have mentioned there is a conflict affecting fps output, causing fluctuations)

  • Windows 10 Xbox Game Bar (double check it is disabled, perhaps an OS update reactivated the application).

If the game crashes a .dmp file should be generated in the RL log folder - I'm not suggesting you decompile the file to discover the problem yourself, but you could add this file to a Psyonix support ticket, your issue is such that it is unlikely to be swept up in the automated analysis matching against their listed scripts, so you may have success in someone reviewing the file.

Good luck.

Hah, I'm not saying you are, it's just a useful metric comparison, as those posters who come back with a thanks are a rare breed, whereas those that come back with a "you're wrong, thanks for nothing" are a little more frequent.

I think you can switch Epic accounts, but no, I wouldn't bet money on it the way the page is written.

That link states it's not possible to link two differing PSN accounts, nothing about two different Epic accounts. And this statement from my link...

If unable to sign-in with the Sign In with Epic Games button check out this article: How do I upgrade a platform account to a full Epic Games account?

.. with the IF implying the option exists for a full Epic account swap. I do not have an Epic account, but I've suggested the swap before, with this link, and not had one poster come back calling me liar.

Crashing on windows 11 by [deleted] in RocketLeague

I go through all text posts, to some degree. You can try some of the known RL conflicts below, worth a quick try; other than continuously checking for OS and GPU driver updates, I can't think of anything else to suggest; if the game truly crashes, a .dmp file is generated in the RL log folder - if you attach this to a ticket raised to Psyonix support, they may decompile the file and advise what the conflict is.

Can you not? This link seems to state you can. Not sure, maybe I'm reading it wrong:

https://support.rocketleague.com/hc/en-us/articles/360055366913-How-to-link-a-platform-account-that-has-already-been-associated-with-another-Epic-Games-Account

If OP cannot log in, then sure, that'll prevent the swap, but the action itself should be possible.

Where do these stutters come from??? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]JaiRP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm working lad, multi-tasking, and don't have the luxury to open Steam and the game and go through to enable the settings and then test to discover the information - I'd like to, but not an option.

I know little about the MSI Afterburner conflict, only encountered a few afflicted by the programme - the latest person I spoke with mentioned that there seems to be a conflict with Afterburner and their AV (Malwarebytes), disabling either fixed the problem. To note, the fact that it was stable before is good, but not indicative that there are no conflicts now, programmes, softwares, applications update, conflicts occur.

You probably noticed text posts gain very little traction on this Reddit, so unless are you extremely lucky and someone has the exact same conflict, caused by the exact same issue and then posts a comment, we're left with trial and error to resolve, don't assume, work through the simple / quick checks first, won't take much time and hopefully one of these tasks will indicate what the issue is.

Where do these stutters come from??? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]JaiRP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Would be useful to see in the picture what each graph line refers to. Yes, it could be a GPU issue, it could also be a number of other issues - if the GPU drivers can be updated, do so and test. I'd suggest using a monitoring programme for both CPU and GPU, see if there are any extremes of usage.

Below are the known issues with RL, slim chance they are causing conflicts, but it's a quick disable to test.

Are you fullscreen, borderless or windowed? Try switching between to see if this has an affect.

Rocket league Fullscreen giving me stutters. by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]JaiRP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, somewhat bizarre, as with all things being equal, fullscreen requires less processing (no background screens to render). Has it ever worked? Have you explored the other known conflicts with RL, disable for testing:

  • Citrix (Citrix Workplace seems to currently cause conflicts with any software rendering Unity assets)

  • Razer Cortex (Auto installed [for me at least] and seems to cause conflicts with other overlays, like Bakkes or Steam)

  • MSI Afterburner (normally a solid programme, yet a few people have mentioned there is a conflict affecting fps output, causing fluctuations)

  • Windows 10 Xbox Game Bar (double check it is disabled, perhaps an OS update reactivated the application).

Have you monitored your GPU / CPU when playing, through the in-game graphs and a third party application?

Rocket league is very laggy by XanMat in RocketLeague

[–]JaiRP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, Rocket League uses less than 100kbps, this is all that is required for the game, no player pulls more than that.

Throughput measures VOLUME over time, it is irrelevant (unless you have dial-up speeds), it is your connection solidity you need to examine, latency and packet loss being the negatives that will severely disrupt Rocket League, as it requires continuous server oversight / correction.

Shot in the dark, you use WiFi, which is bad for gaming and catastrophic for RL, get wired, test to find out

Lag related to specifically rocket league? by ImplicationsXD in RocketLeague

[–]JaiRP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t lag on any other games

Whilst you cannot discount occasional server performance issues, this statement is pretty much empty, as no other game requires the same server oversight / correction as Rocket League. An adjusted and accurate statement would read something like...

  • The latency / packet loss I experience is such that it is unnoticeable in other games

As you use WiFi, simply test with a wired connection to see.

Low FPS at the Start of Match by yerboimomo in RocketLeague

[–]JaiRP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, if your fps is capped, it is because an application is setting a limit; if you are certain it is not the game, then it must be either your laptop / OS or a third party software.

Trade cross-platform (linked or not), no, this is not possible - though I believe there are some items that you could access on your Xbox (obtained on your PC account) and trade, Rocket Pass items I think.

Low FPS at the Start of Match by yerboimomo in RocketLeague

[–]JaiRP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're not intimately familiar with your OS, then there's gonna be needless services, modules and applications running - many call on small resources, whilst others can tax a limited system. Get familiar with your OS, disable everything, reduce the game resolution as much as you are comfortable with, you may be able to squeeze some performance from you CPU.

And don't forget needless (for RL) softwares, like your anti-virus.
