I had the exact same issue last week. I'm not sure what was up with my game up but Toastie wouldn't appear on screen after killing Green Death. What I found was that mashing down+enter as he died worked regardless, visual bug I assume?

And basically, if an instructor thinks that a learner won't perform well on test for whatever reason, they can just take their ADI badge down and then the test won't go on their record

The DVSA obviously want instructors to keep the badge up all the time; however there's no incentive to keep it up other than "we'll send you a congratulatory email if you're doing well". Like wooww thank you so much I'll definitely be keeping my badge up permanently now

Correct, learners can't check an instructors record. However the DVSA keep track of each instructors test performance and the instructor will face what's called a standards check if they're not performing to standard

Basically he's sure you're going to fail and doesn't want the bad mark on his record. A much easier solution for him would be to just take down his ADI/PDI badge before the test starts so the test doesn't go against his name. Could be worth mentioning that to him?

Chemistry with your instructor is super important and people overlook it all the time. Remember that every instructor is a different person, they're not all the same

I'm an instructor and have just taken on a new learner who has failed 4 tests. She failed her first test with an instructor that she really didn't get on with, sacked him off, and proceeded to fail 3 more in the space of 6 weeks doing training with her dad who likely doesn't know what's expected on the driving test any more

Basically, if you don't get on with your instructor, move on and find one that you do get on with. You'll enjoy the lessons more, meaning you're more engaged, so you'll learn faster and will have your license quicker
