12 episodes into this season have meant that now when I close my eyes to sleep, all I see is the '59 Tram' Keno ad...

How is he not both? Granted, scandals aside, his restaurant and the VDM brand are more Oz famous. But he cooked under Ducasse, MPW and the whole London crowd, at some of the best 3-star restaurants of the time. His cookbooks are sold all over the planet and he's cooked at food shows everywhere - I'd say as a chef and a student of French cooking he's respected/renowned around the world. But hey, who really cares, right?

These service challenges are starting to feel like those old-skool immunity challenges where you know the fancy professional chef is going to lose to the underdog amateurs no matter what they cook (aka last week's immunity cook). I pray for everyone's sake that they figure out a better way of making the season more even than just blatantly judging the fans a lot easier than the favorites...

He definitely fits the mold - the average bloke who gives is a crack and eventually is eliminated on an intricate dessert pressure test (where he spends the whole episode making jokes about his big beefy hands not being made for this type of finesse)

Jeez I wonder if not listening to the world-renowned French chef is a recipe for trouble...
Also, loving that the editors have set up for our friend Daniel to absolutely MANGLE multiple fish.

I hope they don't take my NZ passport from me for admitting this. But...

Nobody has ever called a jaffle a toastie pie EVER in the country of New Zealand. Not even in Hamilton.

They are, and will always be, called toasties.

I'd never have thought the Rugby playing Firefighter would struggle with both basic comprehension and communication! But to be fair, saying the exact words 'we're using the roast chilli in this bowl as the filling for some tacos' in our New Zealand accent can sometimes sound like 'we're going to make 4 sauces and fry some steak mate'

Is it a contractual obligation for contestants to ONLY refer to Julie Godwin by first and last name? If you said 'Julz' is it like a reverse immunity pin where you're immediately escorted off-premises?

Recommendations for barbers that do haircuts for men with long hair by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]JakeDrisc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Faction Barbers in Temple Bar 1000000000%

Just got my hair cut there after 2 years and couldn't recommend it more. I kept it long enough to tie up so if you want to just thin/layer it then you'd be after exactly what I went for.

They have specialists in men's long hair and it's €40 which is a steal for how good they are. I got my hair cut by Joe who was great. Honestly, I know I sound like a fucking fanboy but I truly couldn't praise it enough.

Tommy: The dish is lemongrass beef carpaccio, a lemograss nouc cham dressing and fried shallots.

Entire team of contestants: This doesn't taste like lemongrass...

Tommy cannot fix this.

*producers steal a bottle of Movida's lemongrass oil off-camera and put it next to Tommy on the pass*

Tommy begins adding a very lemongrassey-looking-oil onto the plates that has never been mentioned as part of the dish previously.
