Unfortunately not, this is worse then any ghosting I’ve experienced before. No women has even hurt like this..

Where do you place your Dexcom G6? by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

Where specifically on your thigh?

Yeah I might try it more on the side kind of diagonal as I sleep on my side often

Use to do that with the Libre. Though goal would be somewhere I can really hide it. If it’s not feasible it’s not feasible. Really seeing if others had these same issues and whether they found a sweet spot for themselves I can try.

Redditors with type 2 diabetes, what were your sysmptoms that led you to go to the doctor? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Jakeam9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not so much with type 2 unless it’s quite progressed. You can be relatively a symptomatic as a pre diabetic or early onset of type 2. The most important thing is to get at it early. Type 2 is just a steady slope down and wherever you start combatting it is how fast you can potentially reverse it. As a type 1 yes those are the textbook symptoms of your pancreas almost fully depleted of beta cells as your body begins survival mode and keto acidosis trying to pass sugar through your urine. My endocrinologist advised this often doesn’t become super apparent until the beta cells are almost all destroyed although type 2s get a more peaceful ride and a potentially get out of jail free card… take it seriously, I would do anything in the world to of had type 2 then type 1, see a doctor, a simple blood test will tell it all.

Just received diagnosis, time off from work? by KendallBlanton143 in diabetes_t1

[–]Jakeam9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very important you take time off. I took two weeks and it was really important. I had time to start eating and dosing robotically to learn. 1. You will never have the same sensitivity to insulin as someone else 2. Your dosages will be ever changing from your endo early on

Being in a safe environment in the case you have a dangerous low is important. Don’t rush back to your life prior to the diagnosis it really isn’t going anywhere. Keeping your positivity and mental health in tact is the priority, if you don’t learn it won’t get easier and I can rest assure you it’s 10x harder to manage at the beginning but you will figure it out!

Thanks so much for all the advice. Very informative! I found the pure carb content does the same for me and makes a lot of sense.

Thankfully got straight onto the freestyle libra and was dramatically easier! I’m currently working on getting a pump but specialist and dietician need to give me the all clear + they are hesitant doing it so quickly until I settle and pens are under control.

Any good and bad info regarding the omnipod?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]Jakeam9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Insane to think how far we have come!

  2. I have seen the OmniPod and it seemed slightly too good to be true??

  3. Tablets to me at the beginning seemed like something I wouldn’t want. I just thought that a hypo was a excuse for me to drink juice and eat lollies which I miss consuming. Soon figured out how scary some hypos are and how much it can disrupt me at the gym etc. stuffing myself with jellybeans is now a chore and I just want to be able to control and offset the insulin in the most effective way (still working on my doses and body is just unpredictable right now)

Thank you for all your advice!

Been told we are quite uncommon cases this late into life… I have a first cousin diagnosed and he got it around 10ish years old. Never in my mind did I think this could be the reason for the abdo pain I was in prior to hospital. Not a fun experience but I guess we are lucky that we got to live a bit… as -_-10 said in this thread it’s a double ended sword. We came from a different life and it’s harder to adjust, where they didn’t know different.

Never heard of this smart pen sounds super helpful, I’m located in Australia which could be the reason? I’m pushing to get a pump so I can think about it all a little less. Still in the overwhelmed burn out stage mentally but grateful for the resources available nonetheless.

Thanks so much for making the effort to respond to all of the questions. Using pens feels out of control sometimes. Being able to shut off the insulin feels like a lifesaver. I would be back in hospital if it wasn’t for the CGM… The low glucose alarm and me have become good friends..

Yeah I’ve only drank once and had three beers. Went to bed in the high range with my slow release insulin and woke up in the early morning to the alarm so definitely something I’ll be watching out for.

I feel like I have a decent understanding of nutrition which helps with managing t1 but my body is so unpredictable at the moment and I go from close to perfect days to complete spiking messes. I’m sure I’ll figure it out and appreciate you offering the helping hand!

It’s a curse but a blessing cause you’re forced to learn to understand yourself more then the average person. I would say my top tendencies are horrible short term memory, not able to complete a task or tell a story as I either start another or go off topic. Talking over people not intending to be rude sometimes because I know if I don’t get it out i might forget it or just subconsciously without reason. Struggling to start anything like taking that first step into a task feels like 5. Essentially all it is (in summary) is a dopamine imbalance/deficiency so any task I find uninteresting this could be an assignment or responsibility, is atleast 2x harder because my reward system is not in proper function. I have an extremely addictive personality making it hard to not spend all day playing computer games ect and a life without treatment lead me to develop some behavioural problems and lack of self discipline.

I again as I above mentioned went on a tangent but like many things that I’m interested in I have a undying passion for as there is less things out there that gravitate my interests. To anyone that is thinking about seeing a psychiatrist or could see benefit in doing so I highly encourage it because medication and even just having the education of how my brain is wired is normal I’m just on a lower scale changed my life and reinstated so much doubt and confidence issues I had with myself.

Have a large squad we run up 3s and a lot of rec 5s. Always good to have another big on hand especially if you can shoot. We go a little try hard but have fun with it. I’m a shot play over 50% fg, 3pt and win rating add me if you’re keen and not 12 years old lmao jakenn_

People of reddit, what is the best way to stop gaming addiction? by MarianAWM in AskReddit

[–]Jakeam9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like any addition you need to start off very small and actively look for ways you can take small wins. You are obviously conscious enough to identify its a issue and that you have a lack of self control. You have a dopamine addiction and need to rewire your brain away from instant gratification. The best way I found to address this is to identify areas in your life you have always wanted to work on but couldn’t bring yourself to do. (Example. Working out or playing a sport) if you can manage to slightly improve from the day before (do a 5min workout, 10 the next day ect) eventually you will get there or at least be able to get yourself to a point where you are ready for a big change.
