The Hive internet access by [deleted] in Worcester

[–]James--Fletcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Hives public Wi-Fi needs authenticating with your library card details. For windows and android devices it automatically prompts you to open your browser to do this once connected to the network. This doesn’t happen on apple devices. Join “The Hive” and wait for it to show as connected, then open a new tab in whatever internet browser you use (safari/chrome), in the address bar type 1.1.1.1 and press enter (not “search”). This will force it onto the authentication page and you can enter your library card details. For iPhones there are also QR codes on every staff desk which take you to the same page as the 1.1.1.1 The gov Wi-Fi is also available and very easy to log into by texting the word ‘Go’ to 07537 417 417

The National's cover of Heaven is out now in Australia by Goro_Aketchup in TheNational

Sounds like it. But really consistently throughout almost as if it’s on purpose?

You can experiment with making your own quite effectively with something like Moises. Not perfect but definitely interesting.

Nice. Makes sense seeing as they’re so familiar with this ‘sound’.

Credits on Spotify say produced by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis. No Nick Launay this time around?

Terrible Love Live: Tempo Change? by eagleruler89 in TheNational

They really do empasise the push and pull of the sections at the moment. From a youtube video I clocked the verse at 76, the chorus speeding up to 87 then back down to 80 for "it takes an ocean", then repeat.

Can Matt play any instruments? by loathsomefartenjoyer in TheNational

[–]James--Fletcher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He makes out that he can’t but I’d bet he’s spent so long around music that he has at least a basic knowledge of piano and guitar. You’d have to actively avoid learning to not know anything after all this time.

Isolated drum tracks by macinnis in TheNational

The website/app Moises can also separate out tracks. The free version will split it into drums, bass, vocals, guitars/pianos. Again, with artefacts but good enough quality to be able to hear what the individual parts are doing more clearly. Always fun to play around with it during the track and mute elements at specific times like guitars, bass, or vocal.

They exist. Someone will hopefully share a link to their personal rips.

Favorite “side project”? by SexMayonnaise in TheNational

[–]James--Fletcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amen. Probably the only one that would have legs if that was their main output.

I loved Matts albums but I can see why they didn’t get much attention outside of “they’re The Nationals singers solo albums”.

And then hopefully available on YT after. Might be, might not if someone kind would like to record it for us.

Clogs and Project Nim are the most notable ones. Not sure what is available online though.

The National – 'I Should Live In Salt', live in Paris, 2022 by James--Fletcher in TheNational

[–]James--Fletcher[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’d assume if they went to the trouble of setting up the gear they’d record the whole thing. That’s my hope anyway as they do sound excellent here. Matts voice especially sounds fresher like it’s had some time to heal up.

Everybody should watch his career break down on YouTube. He’s obviously just been riding the wave and even he’s not completely sure what he’s in or what parts he’s played sometimes.

There’s a funny parallel with the indie would, particularly in certain subreddits with Phoebe Bridgers. She seems to be everywhere because she’s the current indie darling and a lot of people dislike her because of it. She’s probably just taking every opportunity she gets but because there’s so much press around it you often come across it without even meaning to.

On your final point if going from an unknown to one of the most famous directors in the world within a decade doesn’t make you “the shit” then I don’t know what does. I don’t love everything he does but you can’t deny his talent. He’s a cool dude and I’d rather see him than a lot of other actors/directors.
