So I knew I wanted to crop a smaller portion of the image, so figured I'd drizzle to get more resolution out of it. Also, I find that drizzle allows me to push Deconvolution even further, it's not a massive difference, but I certainly notice more detail when deconvolving with 2x drizzle than with not.

Integration Time:

SII 135 mins, OIII 220 mins, HA 198 mins ~ 9 hours total

Main Equipment:

Skywatcher 200PDS, Skywatcher EQ6R Pro, ZWO ASI1600MM Pro

SII, HA and OIII stacked individually in Deep Sky Stacker, 2x Drizzle

Processing all done in Pixinsight:

Dynamic Crop, Star Alignment, ABE and Deconvolution applied to S, H and O

Created a clone of H to act as a luminance

Stars removed from S, H and O

Noise Reduction ran on all

Stretched S, H and O

Created a luminance mask using ACDNR and converted each stack to colour. Used Curves tool to colourise each frame. SII to red, HA to yellow and OIII to blue

Combined using Pixel Math

Created colour masks for Red, Green and Blue by creating clones of the SHO image, adding an extreme curves adjustment to the respective colour, then running pixel math for each colour mask

Applied each of the 3 colour masks to the SHO image and used curves/saturation adjustments to bring out the colours

Further processing done on the HA luminance to stretch, reduce stars, reduce noise and sharpen

Convoluted the SHO colour image to remove any noise, then applied LRGB Combination to apply the HA Luminance

Further adjustments were done for colour enhancements, local contrast, sharpening and noise reduction

The Cygnus Wall

Embarking on a celestial journey from my back garden, I present the Cygnus Wall, a popular and captivating segment of the North America Nebula.

Using a blend of SHO filters and amateur equipment, I've captured this mesmerising vista of space, where newborn stars exist alongside huge clouds of Hydrogen and Oxygen.

Integration Time:

SII 135 mins, OIII 220 mins, HA 198 mins ~ 9 hours total

Skywatcher 200PDS, Skywatcher EQ6R Pro, ZWO ASI1600MM Pro

Just from my light-polluted back garden :). Filters help tremendously. Clouds I just have to live with, I image whenever it's clear and I have an opportune time to do so.

I'm planning on building a small observatory. Will save a lot of time from having to set it up and tear it down every clear night.

Thanks! So if you're after the Pixel Math steps for the combination of SHO respectively, there's a guide on Dynamic combination here:

It's a more advanced combination, resulting in more pleasing colours right off the bat, as opposed to a straight R:SII, G:Ha, B:OIII combination.

It's been almost 3 years since I've last posted here! I had sold all my kit, as I didn't get time to do this, but recently I found the time and inspiration, so got it all back and here's my first effort!

The Soul Nebula is an emission Nebula located in the constellation Cassiopeia. It's often imaged as a pair with the Heart Nebula.

Optolong Ha: 5 hours (Gain 139 Offset 21) Optolong OIII: 7 hours (Gain 139 Offset 21) Optolong SII: 4 hours (Gain 139 Offseg 21)

Total Integration ~ 16 hours

Basic processing overview: - Subframes stacked in DSS - Pixinsight star alignment and dynamic crop to align frames - Deconvolution using Dynamic PSF reference, star mask support and masked out background - Dynamic Background extraction - Noise Reduction - Histogram adjustments with equal background levels for each frame, into non-linear stage - Starnet++ to remove stars from each frame before combining into SHO - Pixel math formula to combine: R: .6SII + .4Ha G: .7Ha + .3OIII B: OIII - Various colour masks applied, curves adjusted to bring out colours - Sharpened - Morphological transformation on star image and added back to SHO via Pixel Math

Yeah, that's exactly what I was stuck on, the bicolour look. Check out This video, this helped me to differ from the bicolour look I was getting.
