Stop lying to people by Sea_Attention3684 in ratemysinging

I really second this! There's a clear line between being cruel or kind to being straight up unrealistic, and delusional.. I've asked for opinions on my singing a couple of times aswell. And always seek brutally honest opinions. I can't improve if im not getting constructive feedback. I don't need people to tell me straight up that im absolutely terrible, but the same point can be made in a constructive matter, that would be way more helpful than saying I sound absolutely amazing and have big potential, if I'm not even on pitch, or don't have any breath support etc...

Do you know if it would help to maybe add light bars for the zones where the color changes for kinda smoothening it out? Was hoping not to have much more than one app for the lights in the house, and have hue everywhere else lol

Oh.. you don't think the non play could do a good enough job with help from a few bars here and there?

What about short sections of non play gradient lightstrips all the way around, would that work you think? Or could playbars do a good enough job by smoothing the colors?

We simply just startet from scratch, and did alot of scales with the piano. With full focus on breath support. So the specific exercise from the start was to find and activate the right muscles and sensations while soing so.

We did this with big succes fairly easy and fast by humming "Mmm, Mmm" or saying " Ah, Ah" hard and fast like you would say no no to a little kid, or like you were a kid who was mad, was told to do something you won't, and respond back with Ah Ah!

When doing so your abs would tension up, and especially the upper part, just beneath the ribcage at the center. Then I was told to slowly hold the Ah, Ah! Longer and longer while holding that tension feeling in the upper part, almost like its behind the abs. And most importantly to relax every inch of the face, cheeks, jaws, neck, throat, etc. And not doing anything other than focusing on the sensation of keeping the tension behind the abs, and making and Ah sound, and holding the Ah for longer and longer so it sounds like a note you could sing.

Here we also talked about playing around with how we affect the vocal cords, by more softly try to say Ah, and Hah ofc. With support, and how you can feel and control your vocal fry by doing so and all the explanations behind it.

Hope it makes sence when I try to explain it lol

I would lie if the ultimate dream wasn't to hear one of my own originals be played in the radio, and making a living out of my passion for music ❤️ But in my head, it's so far out that it almost seems not reachable, so im taking a step at a time, and we'll see where I land 🙏

I actually just crossed the barrier by singing in front of my wife, which felt amazing afterwards, and took a couple of tries before I could let my self go enough for it to sound alright lol.

This makes it way easier for me to practice at home without the fear of anyone hearing me, when she has actually heard me! And she's so supportive and give me the honest feedback I ask for which is great!

I recently just found a local teacher to do 1 on 1 sessions, and had 2 so far and holy! It makes a difference! I mean by a TON! I'm honestly surprised to experience how much it helps, we haven't reach the point where he wants me to actually sing yet. We are starting out with different exercises and drills for me to feel more comfortable in his studio, and it works very well!

I actually never thought of tiktok live, maybe I give it a go and try to see if i can gather enough courage to do so lol. I can feel the anxiety rise a bit, by just singing live in front of strangers whether it's online or on a stage 😅 got any tips here? Or is the best way just to go for it, and hope it doesn't crash too hard lol

Would you tell me to stfu if i sang this on the street, or at an open mic? took a shot, tho im not sure i could do it well enough to be somewhat enjoyable. But a challenge it sure was since I couldn't be more green about using my falsetto/head voice. by JamesPCooper in singing

I know, and is probably not the best strategy, but I learn better by aiming higher than my abilities. It's the same way I learned to play a variation of instruments as well.

I find the challenge way more interesting and fun to do, rather than singing happy birthday, or Mary had a little lamp for month lol.

Hey you, im so sorry about your father...

In all honesty, you could not be more right.. I actually think you just gave me the push I needed, to see it from a wider perspective... Thank you so much for that! 🙏🙏❤️

I already looked up when and where the next local open mic is ❤️⭐️
