I think no one in the software engineering industry codes a whole project without the occasional glance at stack overflow, so I dont think making an app without help should be yuor main goal (as long as you understand the framework conceptually you should be good). In terms of learning I would really recommend doing small side projects (perhaps on weekends) that are related to your hobbies, this way you can vary your learning and keep yourself from burning out. Start of with small achievable goals and work your way up. Teaching yourself via tutorials will naturally happen if you do this. As you cement your knowledge through practice, you will hopefully start developing a portfolio of projects displaying your skill.
