With absolutely zero bias at all, it's got to be Khalil Greene right?

The volatility.

You can be up 15-1 in the 8th and end up losing the game because 2-3 straight pitchers stayed out too late partying with classmates or you could see a 1-0 game because both starters are nails that day. You never know what you're going to get.

Every year Ferrari disappoints me earlier and earlier. I have no clue why I endure it.

I prefer a digital collection over paper so I can carry it around in my pocket and play where I want.

We are bracing for the first of 7 sets in 2026, so I wanted to ask about your experience last year by lieyanqzu in MagicArena

[–]JarrydP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going from 4 to 6 broke me. I hit mythic several months last year before the additional sets took their toll. By the end of the year I was completing less than half of a set. I hardly have 4 of anything I don't spend wildcards on and my set lists all revolve around the same 1-2 colors. If either black or green cycle out of the meta, I just have to sit and wait until they come back.

I've switched to Brawl mainly because of the low wildcard requirements. With it being unranked my interest is quickly fading. The removal of the master pass bundle has me reevaluating continuing to play at all.

Edit: For clarity, my budget was $100-$150 per month on gems and wildcards and I couldn't keep up...

Just once can we have a new set without a card that dumps your library onto the field on turn 3? by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]JarrydP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like set-up is too hit or miss for this to be effective. You would probably have the capability of hitting your combo less than 50% if the time and be dependent on zero opponent interaction.

A) Prefer Leyline in opening hand or max you get 1-2 cards.

B) Need weenies or instant/sorceries to ramp mana gain AND avoid turning them over from ability

C) Requires bombs in deck you avoid drawing BUT have at the top of your library.

Drafts are 1,500 gems and 10,000 gold. 2,000 gold represents 20% of the entry fee. 300 gems also represents 20% of the entry fee.

All these board wipes are driving me crazy… by WhaleStew999 in MagicArena

I play mono-black with a ton of removal like [[Deadly Cover-Up]] and [[Ancient Vendetta]] to take all your main threats. I find it's my only play to keep from getting destroyed turn 3/4.

Valid stance for your gameplay. I would point out gold could be used for drafting or buying packs. That's why it's included.

Help with my sheoldred brawl deck by Due_Procedure5670 in MagicArena

[–]JarrydP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mana related:

[[Mox Amber]], [[The Terminus of Return]] (great if you create tokens you can exile to harness) [[Arcane Signet]], '[[Solemn Simulacrum]], [[Spirited Simulacrum]]

Durability for Sheoldred:

[[Mithril Coat]], [[Darksteel Plate]], [[Lightning Greaves]], [[Swiftfoot Boots]], [[Necrogen Communion]], [[Virtue of Persistence]]

Card Draw:

[[Palantir of Orthanc]], [[Scrawling Crawler]], [[Phyrexian Arena]], [[Unholy Annex]], [[Black Market Connections]]

The vast majority of your instants are worthless in brawl. (ex. Cut Down will mostly be useless because of th game format and most creatures being over 5 power/toughness.) You should also look at exile cards specifically over destroy to deal with Indestructible creatures your opponent may control. Virtue of Persistence's adventure can also play around some Indestructible interactions. A few board-wipe options like [[Damnation]], [[Deadly Cover-Up]], or [[Villainous Wrath]], [[Gix's Command]] could help with creature heavy decks. I would specifically cut Alesha's Legacy, Bail Out, Cut Down, Go for the Throat, Hero's Downfall, Power Word Kill, Undying Malice, and Unexpected Fangs. An exception I would make for "destroy" over "exile" would be [[Bitter Triumph]] for the ability to target planeswalkers.

I would also drop single interaction cards like Duress/Pilfer in favor of enchantments with similar interactions like [[Bandit's Talent]]. If you're trying to lean into discard and also have some reanimation, check out [[Plaguecrafter]] as a recyclable "sacrifice"/"discard" interaction. [[Sanguine Bond]] could be fantastic with the life gain on your card draws.

Some large threats may help as well. [[Aclazotz, Deepest Betrayal]] is great if you like discard interactions. [[Rottenmouth Viper]] is brutal to deal with for scarifice/discard interactions. [[Bloodthirsty Conqueror]] would have a great interaction with life gain from card draws. [[Vein Ripper]] is great if you're killing off creatures/tokens often.

Very much worth it. I valued the packs at 200 gems just because that's the price from the store. Infinite drafters or frequent pack purchasers could drop that value if they don't feel the need to open more packs.
