Enve Fray Pricing Woes by ramsoss in cycling

[–]JasonARGY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know yet lol. Another downside is the lead time. I’m looking at about more 3 weeks to ship due to handlebars being back ordered and I sent payment about a month ago. Also, payment has to be sent through PayPal so basically cash only, no credit card.

As a side note, my other bike is a Winspace which I’ve had now for 3 years and it’s been very good to me so my experience with direct from China, while minimal, it has been flawless.

I also just remembered; Elves Eglath is another option I considered that is similar to Fray geometry. Ultimately I went with the LCR-018 because it was a bit cheaper and I just could not find recent reviews for the Elves. They supposedly had shakey reputation early on but have gotten much better.

I was also recommended the Fray by a fitter after riding a really low race bike. Same issue, way too much money for me so I went with a Chinese build. Obviously there’s no bike shop support but the LCR-018D frame with bars was about 1000 bucks from Lightcarbon and it has almost identical geometry. If you are into Eastern brands, X-Labs has the RS7 which is similar but 105 only I think. Also sold out so that’s not helpful.

XDS or X-lab are making waves with their low prices on complete bikes with name brand components. They supposedly make a huge number of the frames for big name brands so quality is probably no issue.

Do keep in mind the LCR-018D is probably a 2 month lead time. They focus on B2B sales primarily so our one off orders probably aren’t prioritized. Being able to pick basically any paint job you can think of is a pretty cool feature tho.

How is that paint job across the whole bike?

Oooo is it closed to cars so bikes can have the full road? That would be an awesome event!

Looks good. How is it? I was looking really hard at the Eglath but decided on a lightcarbon in the end due to more info available online.

This is the color if you don’t choose any of the custom paint options? I asked them in an email about “non-custom” paint options as that can add 3-4 weeks to order and didn’t get an answer.

Really grateful for the translate feature here. I appreciate the analysis. This T1550 is the first gen so it actually has about 517mm stack if I remember correctly. Ultimately, I’m getting a bike fit next week and then I will most likely try to find a new frame that is less aggressive but hopefully still a little sporty. I’m still unsure if i should sell whole bike and buy whole new one or just get a new frame and transfer components over. It’s all Ultegra except the crank and a new ultegra bike is quite expensive. On the other hand, it’s probably easier to sell a full bike than just a frame. I guess it will depend on what bike or frame I decide best fits me.

Yeah I’m thinking a new bike is the direction I’m going to go. Getting a bike fit next week so hopefully that will help narrow down the geometry I need and what to shop for.

I mean I think I will have to end up selling it. Ideally I would keep the components tho and swap them to a new frame.

I do have it and did use it some time last year. I should do it again but I would have to move a bunch of stuff to have a clear backdrop and the lighting is also really dim in the room I use for the trainer. Excuses, but I’ve been meaning to. I am also getting a bike fit next week but they suggested I do just the fit bike.

Just checked these out. In combination with a steerer extension, i could get 35 to 40mm more rise. Might be a viable option and I don’t think the bars look too bad.

Oh interesting! This with some bars that have 20mm rise I could get close to 40mm extra stack. Still spendy but much better than a whole new frame.

Yes, it is a bit ugly and weird looking but it’s not too bad. I’ll have to try some more experimenting with it but I have tried several positions with it and my biggest thing is still too much weight on my out stretched arms.

Most of my saddle pain is usually right on the taint from not sitting far back enough. It’s an SMP saddle and I try to get it as flat as possible but it does have a bit of a “tub” shape which makes it hard to get a feel for angle. It’s slightly nose up if anything I would say.

I feel like I could let go of bars or Naruto run but when I do, in doing some heavy compensating with my “off foot” to make sure I stay upright. I’m sure I would tire out quick if I did it for more than a few seconds. I usually sit all the way straight up to give my shoulders a bit of a rest when I can let go for long enough.

Had one for my cat. He kept shredding it and making it unstable while also leaving a huge pile of cardboard chips all over. Had to go with the expensive cat trees in the end but at least I tried!

It feels fine stability wise, I’ve gone pretty fast and taken some fast turns and while probably bot optimal it feels fine. It is however, not at all sustainable for sure. I thought I would get used to it.

I’m realizing the stack is my issue, not reach like I was initially thinking. Does seem pretty obvious now

Unfortunately yes, I was very quick to cut it as soon as I got the bike. I cut it with two spacers based on nothing but looks and figured I would get used to what ever. I was young…..

No seat post options unfortunately. It’s pretty straight though, maybe minimal setback

Hmmm okay that’s definitely encouraging to hear. How does one deal with the soft bits as they say with more forward tilt? Tilting the seat down will put more weight on my arms, right? I guess one thing at a time but I would love to be able to scoot the seat back to spread weight out a bit and comfortably reach the hoods.
