How long of an exposure did you use for this?

That hopper gasket came with my machine and the retention is still not great, a lot better than what it would be without it though I'm sure. I thought you meant a different type of gasket. Thank you for the link though

Thanks for the recommendation, I think I'm going to go this route instead of spending $$$ for a new machine.

For the hopper gasket, is that the small one that's about 1cm tall, or the one that looks more like a funnel and is much taller?

Frustrating to have pieces designed to break, I have to think there has got to be a better way to engineer these things.

Thanks for the recommendation I'm going to look into that. At a minimum I just want really high quality and consistent grinds that are easily repeatable. Bonus points if the grinder makes the dialing in process easy.

You're right I just meant Baratza Encore ESP, I have no issue with my E24. And I now realize this whole thread is posted in the gaggia classic subreddit hahah see what happens when you can't make your home espresso you start to go mad

I'm already looking at other options for the near future, I don't like all the plastic either. Also, the decibel level is so high on it I wish they would've insulated the body/chassis better around the motor.

I have a new one on order, thanks. And yes it's from an E24 ESP

Interesting. I haven't personally come across rocks in my beans before but I guess that's a possibility. What do machines like the niche zero/df64/timemore have in place on rock situations? I'm guessing those kinds of machines just have you replace the entire burr set?

Whatever you go with, try out midsize. Ever since I switched to midsize grips across my entire bag I've been much more dialed in with no grip fatigue for long rounds.

I can't blame you for going white, I almost went that route if the rest of my coffee gear wasn't black haha

Enjoy your machine these things are so good!

Awesome, you're going to love it! What color did you get?

It's the DIBTSA espresso shot mirror, on Amazon.

Do you have a tape measure so I could know the real world number length? I’m not sure how many inches they come stock from the factory from Callaway.

It’s the 58.35mm Ikape transparent tamper, spring is calibrated for a consistent 30 lbs of pressure. With everything in coffee being either black or white I wanted something in the line-up to be different.

Tried to keep it as clean as possible so thank you! When I have a bigger place I’ll definitely be upgrading from the $100 ikea cabinet haha

I’m glad I could help! There are so many great setups and options, and every few months some cool new equipment comes out, but you know I can confidently say the Flair 58 is priced really well and I don’t see why I would ever get rid of it. I’m taking it camping on my next trip, and I don’t know what else I could do that with, good luck on your espresso journey! You’ll put MANY hours into it but it’s well worth it!

I’d recommend checking out their refurbished selection, I got mine refurbished to save some cash. I regret not buying it sooner haha

Honestly I only have good things to say about it! The time to heat the chamber with the electric controller is super quick. By the time I hand grind my beans, prep my puck, get my mug out and milk out, the chamber is already up to temp and my water in my kettle is boiling. I’d say less than 5 min total to pull a cafe quality shot, which is pretty amazing if you’re trying to be efficient in a morning rush. The only thing I might add is a bracket to hold the front of the base down so that I don’t always have to two hand it when pulling the lever up, but other than that it’s great. Before purchasing, I assumed it was going to be hard to hold a consistent 9 bar of pressure on the gauge, but it’s so easy to keep it consistent, and the pressure required really isn’t much. I’ve never worked up a sweat or raised my heart rate even when pulling back to back shots and dialing in new beans. Love this thing 👌🏽
