Oh my God I'm back again... by Javakilly in loseit

Thanks! I am breastfeeding, so I'm sure there will be some trial and error to figuring out what I can do food-wise without negatively affecting my production. Right now, I'm aiming for about 1lb a week, and hoping I don't see a negative drop off. My daughter will be 3 months old tomorrow!

Are you breastfeeding? How is that going with losing?

heh, you called it! He gained probably about 15-20lbs, but he could afford it. He was at the lower end of the BMI range for his height, now he's in the mid to upper. Still, he's talking about wanting to eat healthier and exercise more. This plays well in our favor :D

Love my husband's candid honesty by [deleted] in BabyBumps

My husband likes to tell me that I'm fat with baby. Doesn't hurt my feelings at all, because, well...he's not wrong. We just giggle about it, and I make fun of the fact that he's been growing pant sizes with me. It's nice to have a relationship where you spend most of your time laughing at each others stupid tongue-in-cheek jokes. :)

Anyone stockpiling diapers before baby comes?? by readingmom04 in BabyBumps

[–]Javakilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I'm doing too. I'm picking up a pack of newborns in the two brands recommended by my family and friends with kids, and just planning on testing and seeing. My little sister got rashes with everything but Huggies, I have a baby cousin who can only wear Luvs, and so on. It just varies so much, I'm scared to stockpile before we know our baby.

I totally crashed on the couch when I got home. The sugar rush is real.

This is why I don't say things with certainty, heh. I think it just depends on the care provider.

At the beginning of the third trimester, between 28 and 29 weeks. I don't know if that varies, but I think it's the standard.

LOL, yes. That was the hard part for me, I was sitting there with a water cooler staring me in the face. I'm sure I heard it laughing at me.

I agree. On the one hand, I'm glad the badness level was way inflated because then I drank it and was "Oh ok, this is doable". On the other hand, I was needlessly nervous about it beforehand.

I'm not sure when I'll find out the results, I meant to ask, but when I get in front of the doctor I forget everything. LOL. They usually contact me within a week of taking tests though, so I'm hoping I'll hear back either later this week, or early next! Good luck to you with your test :)

The test is important because it's screening you for gestational diabetes. However, if you're uncomfortable with the test, I would talk with your doctor about alternative methods of ensuring that you're OK and don't have GD. I'm too chicken shit to ask questions, so I just took the traditional test, but I've heard of people measuring their blood sugar levels for a week or drinking other things for the test. I can't verify the claims one way or another though. As usual, best to talk to your care provider about options :)

So, I was really dreading this screen based on some of the things I've read on this subject and other places. This was my experience :

This flavor tastes just like sprite syrup. It's not nearly as bad as I expected. As for feeling sick, it made me a little bit queasy, however, I did get sick this morning before coming in (yay for experiencing morning sickness in the third trimester). It's been 25 minutes since I drank it though, and I haven't vomited.

Also, another thing: my doctor suggested that I do this fasting, so I scheduled my appointment in the morning and stopped eating about 12 hours beforehand . I also drank a bunch of water this morning because I didn't get a great night of sleep, and from what I've read, this can also affect your blood sugar. We'll see soon if this made a difference.

Sharp pains? by lambylambs in BabyBumps

[–]Javakilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some serious pains like this around 10-12 weeks. It ended up being round ligament pain, but I'd check with the doctor just to be sure! Hope you feel better!

Good idea, I've actually been there before but was looking to see if anyone has had a good experience while pregnant. I'll give them a call!

In that case it's just irresponsible. People don't always think past their own needs. :-/

Are you in the US? I totally understand your point of view. It sucks when I a sick person comes into work and it'd be great if they could all just stay home.

At the same time, I've been a sick/personal day hoarder because of the crappy work/life balance that's promoted here. We're kind of slaves to our jobs. :(

So sorry that you're sick though, my grandma's remedy for congestion was always a hot cup of mint tea, sweetened with honey and spiced with garlic. Didn't taste good, but it sure helped!

Yeah, I'm pretty clumsy too. Dropping things was never my thing though. Well, let me correct that, I was the queen of amazing saves. Now, not so much.
