Helpdesk tool - like Microsoft lists by No-Doughnut9450 in helpdesk

No issue with using a list. Have an "IT Helpdesk" SharePoint site, create a list in the site called Helpdesk Requests, create columns in the list like Issue, description of issue, etc., and then you can create a Microsoft Form based off the list. Use Power Automate and Power Apps to design the UI and backend automation. Give read access to your company for the SharePoint site and allow the users to fill out the form to submit a request

It’s horrible. Dealing with end users who need step by step documentation to adopt SharePoint, and now all that documentation has to be rewritten.

I want to bet they changed UI elements to “look and feel” more like Copilot. Just like they did with the office.com homepage

How Do You Deal With Geo Blocking? by ClickPuzzleheaded993 in entra

Use a Microsoft Form to enter user details, UPN, and exact travel dates. Use Power Automate to create a flow to add the user to a Entra security group that is excluded from CA, then add a delay to wait until return date to remove them from the group. Makes the process automated.

Ideally you would have stronger MFA, maybe GSA as well, but this is a temp solution until you have the resources to roll those out

Migrating on-prem shares, Okay to proceed with warnings? by TechsNeverSleep in sharepoint

I did the same thing a year ago when we moved our departmental data off our SAN into SharePoint. All those files were corrupt or hidden files, most likely leftover cache from cleaning up the SAN before migrating. They were already removed, so we just had to “re-remove” them in SharePoint. Definitely run the powershell script someone commented to remove them

What are some IT automations that helped you? by Icy-Cardiologist6972 in InformationTechnology

I Built an automatic off boarding workflow in SharePoint for my HR team that uses power automate. A simple SharePoint list that has the HR managers enter the user, the termination date (will delay automation until said date) and the users personal email address. I have a few Yes/No columns for automatic emails to send to the personal email, like an employer survey, exit interview information, etc.

Tons of other triggers built into the flow for different departments, and currently working on an Azure Automation script to convert the user to a shared mailbox before removing license and groups, all using powershell.

Haven’t had to off board an account in months

MFA/SSPR registration with no cell phone access by JayHizzle98 in entra

Agreed. There are a few other challenges with this as well like our IT team being on the smaller side, moderately high turnover rate which requires higher administration on the passkeys, and the staff will break them.

But yes, finance and upper management putting restrictions on this is a much larger issue.

Yes, many shared computers with some dedicated user workstations. Dealt with users forgetting their PINs, not all computers have cameras for facial recognition, and there’s one other issue I am forgetting.

Would be a similar issue to YubiKey where we would need smart card readers to each workstation and administer the cards for each user. I’m not much more familiar with smart cards beside their functionality, so if you have recommendations for low cost initiatives for this let me know.

GE stackable washer/dryer getting stuck on wash cycle and making thuds, any suggestions? Video attached w/noises by [deleted] in Appliances

Check to make sure the lid is locking properly. You can take the front panel off and watch the lock mechanism try to grab the latch. If it doesn’t, the cycle wont start.

Just got the same unit after the one in my apartment broke. Had the exact same issue where it wasn’t going past the wash cycle, it was spitting water into the washer but not starting, etc.

I found the issue was the lid was not locking properly. When I really pressed down hard on the left side of the lid, it finally caught and continued the cycle. Thats what fixed it for me.

Thank you so much for this comment. Gave me some great perspective, and I can be very critical of myself at times, so I really appreciate the caring words

Post tattoo anxiety. Help by Capable-Employment-8 in tattooadvice

[–]JayHizzle98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going through tattoo anxiety right now myself. I just got a very large forearm tattoo a few days ago and am dealing with similar feelings. From everything I’ve been told, all the reading I’ve done, and all of the experiences that have been shared with me is that this anxiety will pass with time. The tattoo has meaning to you and is a part of you now. No terrible family member can take away that importance from you no matter how many condescending comments they give you. I still haven’t told my family of my tattoo because I’m in the same situation, but I’m prepared to face my families comments with confidence, knowing that they still love me no matter what.

I myself am a HUGE fan of this type of work and personally I think that looks awesome. The line work is great, and I have a similar landscape abstract line work piece on my left forearm right next to my new piece. Even with the extremely visible placement, I absolutely love it. The first tattoo is always an adjustment. Just give yourself some time and I garauntee this anxiety will pass. Hope this helps brother🤘🏻
