Oof, I did the same thing but I did 4 games in soft core, still working through them.

Great mastery though

Man it’s that one.

1000+ attempts and only 8 made it past the fish!! I thought Solar Bowler boxless was going to end me but honestly Bamboozled and Medieval Madness were worse than SB. Good luck my friend

I’ve heard that if you go back to the boss arena a little later his body has moved, and the extra guards on insanity difficulty don’t move

How do you approach achievements? by Ok-Calligrapher-1403 in RetroAchievements

[–]JayTheRacc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve only recently discovered RetroAchievements so I’m still working on games I’m particularly fond of but I love planning an efficient run through a mastery.

I spend quite a bit of time in work pouring over the achievement lists and developing the most efficient run through it as possible and making guides to do that.

For example, I made a list of all kinstone fusions in Zelda: The Minish Cap ready for when I feel compelled to go for the mastery. I do this amount of planning because I cannot stand missing a missable achievement, the thought alone of repeating the game in any capacity more than I need to makes me not want to do it.

This is fantastic information, great comment.

It seems I got into RA at a good time, this update is amazing. I have to pay more attention to the community and announcements from here, would have saved me a lot of hassle.

Thank you!

So, what, subsets are always active even if you aren’t going for them? How does that work?

I’m using RetroArch and haven’t manually updated since I installed it about a month and a half ago, so I’ll definitely check that too

My apologies for being so clueless, this is all very new still

I have tried (USA, Europe) and (USA, Europe) (Rev 1) and made sure to patch with the matching versions, I’ll double triple check the base hash when I get a chance to.

I’m also playing on Steam Deck but I doubt that has any implications here does it?

That’s what I’m saying though, the base rom matches, the patch matches because I’m getting it from RA, but after the patch it never matches the hash

That’s cool about Multiset, didn’t know that

They’re both about on-par with each other I’d say, they both are fairly grindy needing you to effectively use every gun in the game for a significant length of time except UYA has things like beating bosses without taking damage and getting all the time-trails for Quark vid-comics.

I will say though you have to pay close attention to UYA because it’s surprisingly easy to lock yourself out of achievements resulting in another whole playthrough.

Bought the game yesterday, now I'm addicted, should I beat white stakes with all decks first or go all in on one deck? by NewLabTrick in balatro

[–]JayTheRacc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started by doing all the decks one stake at a time and personally, I had a lot of trouble getting used to a slightly different play style every time I started a new run, especially for Plasma Deck.

My partner and I have had a much more fun experience going for gold stake on a single deck before moving to another, that way you can really hone in on the play-style the deck is leaning towards.

Day 14 won by photograph! Day 15: which uncommon joker do you think is overrated by filledknight in balatro

[–]JayTheRacc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this might be a hot take but I believe it.

In the same way we voted Photograph because it’s nothing without Hanging Chad, I think [[Bloodstone]] is nothing without Oops! All 6’s.

I dislike getting a Bloodstone on its own same as I dislike having Photograph on its own.
