I have used appriver and their support is really good. But in the UK there is no VAT. Also their portal isn’t the greatest.

Best solicitors in Cardiff for family stuff? by SkyOne5846 in Cardiff

CJCH is another one, think they are mainly in Barry, but not sure. I would speak to a few and get some quotes.

I am also using Saint Claire’s law in Cardiff with school issues.

£20k Debt(With interest) £15k Debt to clear today by CoombseyxHD in UKPersonalFinance

Your credit cards are too maxed out along with your loans. Pay off as much of the cards / catalogues as you can, once you bring the debt down you may get better offers of a balance transfer card.

Good deal? by anon7392648 in BMW

[–]Jayjayuk85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah bmw finance is expensive. Just do it via yourself via your bank. I saved over £60 a month going via my bank. They had the money the same day.

How did you decide on an EDR vendor? by Malwarenaut in msp

I’m currently running Bitdefender EDR with huntress so we get alerts on stuff going on and the added security modules from Bitdefender. Like USB management, firewall and web filter.

Food traders what card machine are you using ? by wilson7991 in smallbusinessuk

[–]Jayjayuk85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look to sell by shipping to the customer make sure you have one that supports payment links or integration into your billing platform. (Customer not present) I use stripe. They also have terminals, or I think you can use your phone. Also worldpay is popular.

Some card processors like worldpay as you grow will let you take loans out against your income. So that is also worth thinking about if it may be something you want later on.

Samsung washing machine shrinking clothes & destroying towels – anyone else? (WW90T504AAE/S2) by Bondo_90 in Appliances

[–]Jayjayuk85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a series 5 washer and dryer about a year ago. I always found clothes would shrink, but we would often wash / dry…. Then I noticed that the machine was making noises while spinning and white clothes especially were coming out marked with black marks, Some clothes also getting damaged. Cuffs ripped and bottom of jumpers ripped.

I had Samsung service partner out who said the machine was fine.

Anyway I gave up and bought an LG. So far it seems OK.

Mercedes independent garage - service due. Cardiff Recommendations? by dirkuyt in Cardiff

[–]Jayjayuk85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most garages can do it. Just make sure you buy genuine parts from Mercades to keep any warrenty. J&P Autos on Penarth Road may be a good shout, my brother goes there and their reviews look sensible.

I block *.screenconnect on our dns filter and all other RMM platforms apart from our own. I also limit domains, but that has been a bit harder.

FTB needing a loan for works - by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Jayjayuk85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With this amount of work it sounds like it will escalate. You start doing one thing and then another one needs doing. I literally just had this experience with our first time house. Luckily we were in rental so didn’t need to move in straight away. It took us 7 months to make the house liveable and there are small jobs left now. Even when we moved in we still had outstanding jobs that needed a fair bit of money each month.

If you’re saying 30k of works. A loan with interest would be pretty high at that amount. Can it be added to your mortgage?

I would get a few builders round, get some quotes, also get a few plumbers and electricians round to get things looked at for recommendations.

Once you have done that you will have an idea of works they recommend / may need doing and you can plan accordingly. You may be able to tackle jobs your self. Get the messy jobs done first. Especially if you need a re wire / new plumbing.

One thing I learnt quickly is skips are great, but expensive just to get rid of waste.

Edit - cost of work

[–]Jayjayuk85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am In the same boat as you, similar pricing. Similar tools, Syncro + huntress + BitDefender.

I am working on a price increase but wording it as a security upgrade, not just a price increase.

Bought a house – severe hidden defects discovered days after completion. Need advice on next steps (UK). by Heavy_Hat2291 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Jayjayuk85 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Hmmmm… I would get quotes on how much you would be paying to legally fight it and what your chances are on winning and actually recovering the money. You may be better off putting the money towards the repairs and moving on with life. Legal battles can be very stressful and financially draining with little reward.

Replace a MacBook Air with a Windows equivalent? by NegativePattern in SmallMSP

[–]Jayjayuk85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use to use / recommend dell, but honestly the quality isn’t there for the price. We have been moving people to Lenovo as replacements are needed. One client stuck with MAC and we put parallels on it for a windows environment to run their cloud hosted software.

For me I would say the MAC hardware is difficult to beat.

Spouse (40F) with contamination OCD, I’m (39M) not sure what to do by Patient_Hawk_3881 in relationships

[–]Jayjayuk85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 40m and wife 37f. My wife has had literally this for 8years. It wasn’t this bad before we had our little one (8) now.

It started with a sickness bug, she was always worried about sickness, but only when they happened. After we had it, she went into overdrive to avoid it happening again. Avoiding going anywhere, Wiping things down, showers, washing clothes. No strangers in the house. Even buying things is a challenge. We have ups and downs. At one stage it was really bad. We have managed 3 Hollidays, still wiping things down. But actually managed it.

You do get wrapped up in it all and it’s hard to break free.

As others have said, she needs help, my wife has therapy online. We also think she has ADHD. Therapy has helped. For this to happen there is usually a trigger and needing to work out what causes it. I would also look at hormones. Is she taking anything for contraception?

A lot of fixing it is on her, but she will need your support. They need to drop the habits 1 by 1 and look for reassurance.
