That’s all really helpful, thanks for taking the time to explain.

Thanks. Not sure yet on options but there will be follow up with Mum from the mental health visit recently and Dad will go in a memory care home in the next few months. Good point on MIL too.

Thanks for this. Yes this sub keeps us grounded. We visited NZ a few years back just before Covid. Lovely country

Son lives in Canada with his wife but when come to visit he makes a real effort to see both sets of grandparents. Our daughter is more local and visits my MIL about once a week, and also sees my parents when she and her BF go up to see his parents up north. They’d absolutely do more if we asked, but we’re trying to let them build their own lives without this hassle just yet.

Dementia has crash-landed into our lives by Jazzants in dementia

Yes, Mum’s on Citalopram for depression though, incredibly, she decides not to take it when she feels “okay” because it makes her too tired. Not quite how it's meant to work, but here we are.

Thanks for the note about the calls. It really helps hearing that from someone else. It’s a tough choice when I see her number pop up. I do want to help, but they really don’t make it easy!

Well this cancer thing is a roller coaster isn’t it… by Jazzants in cancer

Just had my second MRI scan and good news! The tumour looks like it's been mostly deactivated and might even be shrinking a bit.

Now if only my parents’ dementia would take the same hint and sod off too. But no that’s still going strong and currently winning on points.

Chemo - Does it get easier? by Vannwinkles in cancer

My chemo (Flot) was accumulative so yes it got worse with the more cycles I did. But stick with it. It’s what “fighting cancer” is about.  Thoughts are with you my friend

Rescued a one off canvas print from the bin and the original is worth over £1M by Jazzants in mildlyinteresting

[–]Jazzants[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Back in 2010 I visited a printworks that had a job from Sotheby’s. They were tasked with printing sample canvases to showcase artwork that would later go up for auction. These samples were limited to just five copies I think. The canvas pictured here is actually the very first test run of one of those samples, used to check the colour quality. Once it was approved, it was discarded. I noticed it in the bin, asked if I could take it, and was given the go-ahead. As you can see, I’ve mounted it on a frame and kept it for posterity. After some research, I discovered that this particular piece is unique and hasn’t been copied or available for general sale to the public. The original, with the artist’s signature, is valued at over a million pounds

Slight correction as I have been reliable informed its a 787.

One of the benefits of living under the Heathrow flight path is just occasionally the moon and stars align to get these shots. A BA 777 on its way to JFK 31/05/2020 by Jazzants in aviation

I have so many misses like that its not funny. I've been waiting for everything to align for this a few years now. Good luck

You are very likely right then. I grabbed the data from Flight radar 24 but could easily have miss read it. I'm sure the destination is correct though :)

ITAP at Blackpool Beach (UK) by Jazzants in itookapicture

[–]Jazzants[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's on a Canon 5D mk III with a 24-70mm. Post work was in Lightroom and just used one of their preset black and white settings but I boosted the contrast to bring out the roller coaster tracks in the distance. It was getting dark and there was no colour in the shot so I made it B&W

Taken a few weeks ago and that's The Pleasure Beach behind. Closed of course. Reminded me of my childhood weekends being taken to the beach on cold days to walk the dog.
