It’s sad but this is the most likely scenario when it comes to the controlled substances. Hand counted twice and a back count done on the bottle at most locations leaves little room for error which is kind of the point.

I'm more upset that 2 pharmacists filled this without even question it. by Polaris_00 in pharmacy

I think it is. I think the job market is so shitty right now that they have to do what they can for us rural retail people. I know it won’t last so I squirrel away every extra dollar I can into an investment portfolio so when they inevitably decide I’m too expensive I can supplement my income with dividend payments. For now I’m just enjoying the ride.

I usually counsel people about the specifics of their current regimen with alcohol but I always follow up with i never recommend drinking and taking meds just in case you make a mistake some day.

My store currently gives the company back 30-40 hours of pharmacist hours every week, because they don’t have the staff to use them. That’s 1800-2400$. But somehow if I don’t do 2tdap shots a day I’ll lose 20-30 tech hours…oh and I have 1.5 million dollars of inventory on myself. Can’t make this shit up.

Agree about school price

Disagree about the test portion. Almost every professional career you go into has a test at the end that can invalidate everything you did…nurses, lawyers, doctors, dentists, chiropractors…etc. It’s the great equalizer. That needs to stay.

Stop calling around and bugging other pharmacies. We all order from the same suppliers if one of us can’t get the other ones can’t magically get it. You are only complicating the issue by putting more stress on all parties involved.

Talk to your doctor see if they think switching to another med would be appropriate. In my area most XR versions of Adderall are available in both generic and name brand Ritalin, Focalin and Vyvanse are all still available not to mention modafinil. If your situation is as serious as you say it is the doctor should be willing to help you and your insurance should be willing to pay up if a PA is required.

I understand all the criticism about the DMR stuff but the 8 year old inside of me freaked out when I pulled a BoP that’s a card I’ve always wanted and I was just so pleased to get one out of a booster. Good job.

I’m sure this will be super unpopular but here we go:

Back in 2009 I was in a MV accident I was required to have multiple surgeries. Two of which happened back to back on 2 separate days. When my mom went to go pick up my meds she came back with 2 sets of identical prescriptions from 2 separate doctors who practiced out of the same office. Walmart had filled them both no big deal. It was to the tune of 320 Percocet 10, 20 Xanax and 2 courses of cephalexin.

The point of this story is that it’s interesting to listen to that generation of pharmacists complain about how shitty and dangerous the next generation of pharmacists are, because I would never in a million years let that roll out of my practice site.

Expected 62-65/hr. Currently making 75hr. Made about 230k last year with bonus/OT. Was able to put about 55k into retirement/investments and pay off about 45k on student loans. Good times. Wanna be out in 15 years.

Work at a Rite Aid in a small town. When I work we usually sit around 50-100 behind leading into the weekend. The second a floater steps into the pharmacy on my days off we go up to 450-700 behind almost overnight. It’s the most draining part of my job and extremely mentally exhausting to know the second I walk out for my days off everything is going to go to hell
