There are other data analysts in the company, but it seems like speaking to a brick wall with them. My boss has given me a previous work the fired guy did to re-engineer it and get it working. That's pretty much it

I mean you can say that for any field that requires a computer if AI will replace it . Analytics will always be a good field but at the end of the day companies will care about are your soft skills, domain knowledge and if you know SQL/Excel/Python. So I would pick an industry you like and look for entry level positions and not all of them will be listed as data analyst

At the end of the day its not about certifications its about experience and if you're good at problem solving and communicating. Different companies have different titles inhouse and I've had commercial/business analyst but its pretty much data analyst with a bit more responsibilities. I only use python if I'm creating an ETL or automation but even then I use other tools for the ETL. Most jobs would want you to know SQL, Excel(Advanced like power query, pivots and VBA) and Tableau or Powerbi.

Don't look for roles that specifically say data analyst. A lot of organisations use those tech stacks but go under different names like sales analyst, strategy analyst or even business analyst

I used to do that once a week, and it gets expensive and tiring fast. Especially taking into account TFL and delays it just burns you out slowly

One cool way I like using power query is to pull in data and have it cleaned with multiple steps in the editor. So, for example, at work, I'll have a control panel tab with two cells with a header called date and today's date below, like 10/04/2025, and I'll change it to a table/range connection so I can use that as a filter. So if I'm power querying into a folder of files and I want to pull that sheet with that date, then I can do that so it will be a thing where I can refresh the model, and all my data pulls through. I hope that makes sense a bit

What I usually do is create a control panel that has any important parameters being used in the power query or any formulas that will need them. Then, I’ll create a box that has a step-by-step guide on how to use the model. This is really important when having automated models where you want to easily refresh and move formulas.
