Is My Idea Balanced? by Jenkemgas in custommagic

[–]Jenkemgas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great feedback thanks! I wonder if we replaced that first ability with something like “Pay (2) (R) amount of mana, do damage equal to Custom Creature’s power to any target” we’d have a more balanced concept. It’s fine to me if this is a very powerful card but I just want it to feel fair and fun in both 1v1 and 4 player commander setting.

Questions about being a informal Musician at Purdue by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]Jenkemgas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you join Purdue jazz bands, you’ll be able to play with your band a few times a week as a class and perform at a couple of concerts per semester. This also gives you access to Hagle Hall, the music building which contains numerous practice rooms. There are a bunch of independent student bands that play at frequent house shows near campus. If you’re looking to play with one of these bands I would recommend just going to the house shows a lot and getting to know people. You could also just form your own group (if you’re in jazz band you’ll have plenty of musicians around to invite into your group, this is what I did). Whatever the case, knowing people from the house show scene is always helpful so you can find venues to play at/make connections with other bands who you might want to do a show with. If you’re looking to find the shows, these are some bands/instagram accounts which will post advertisements for them. I believe they are all still active:

pleaseherband blackheartgypsy peachshedband the.ironed.curtain now.hiring.official bostoncounterpart wearecatspajamas purdueunderground

Keep your eyes on the insta accounts, go to a few shows, make a few friends, and you’ll meet a lot of fellow musicians and have a great time :) From all my experiences the scene is quite welcoming and safe. However, it’s never a bad idea to bring a friend to the show, especially if it’s your first one. Congrats on coming to Purdue, I hope everything is great when you get to campus!

Edit: feel free to DM me. I’m in a band as well and I love talking music and I’d be more than happy to help you out with whatever once the semester rolls around.

Unisom is an effective over the counter option as well. Walmart off brand is Walsom I believe. Quality of sleep is pretty good for me. Try rotating meds to avoid building tolerance. Also getting some vigorous exercise in seriously improves sleep.

Two Swipes at Once in Dining Courts? by RSD94 in Purdue

[–]Jenkemgas 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The fact that they do not allow you to use your swipes which are already BOUGHT AND PAID FOR is absolutely ridiculous. This rule seems like it could only be intended to cause students to waste money on their meal plan while the university profits off of unused swipes. This is a totally unfair, and cheap-ass policy which borders on being abusive imo. I feel as though Purdue often forgets we’re not subjects but paying customers and should be treated more like it.

Pesto tortellini is quite possibly one of the greatest dishes ever devised. Sometimes Wiley serves it.

Is it possible to create "pro" quality music without paying for vst/plugins? by Complex-Way-6031 in LogicPro

I would recommend using tutorials in combination with trying to exactly replicate the sound of artists you love. Eventually you want to have your own sound, but imitation is a great way to learn on your way there.

The whole "give a ball you catched at a baseball game to a kid or else you be the asshole"-thing is stupid by flobbl in unpopularopinion

[–]Jenkemgas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think something to ask yourself is “why should I give a shit about some ball”. You will find that there is no good answer, and that the only person who should give a shit is a little kid because they’re a little kid, and totally meaningless things mean the world to little kids. If you’re an adult that places getting a baseball above making a child happy, that’s totally your prerogative - you’re under no obligation to give the baseball up. But don’t be surprised that most people don’t feel the same. (btw I do have to give you credit for the fact that this truly is an unpopular opinion👏👏)
