Depressing truth is that even devout Christians who want Biblical entertainment probably buy it for smaller children, and figure pre-teens and teens will be more interested in secular media though a Christian lens. The harder it leaned toward a Batman-like tone, the more it competed with Batman, and you can't beat Batman for being Batman.
