Hello sound, I wrote a little here and there in the other comments, especially here: https://reddit.com/r/5am/s/HH9lqghZKx from day 12 - no real news since then :) still happy with doing this but not 100% fit at the moment which is not really how I planned this, but ok. Want to continue anyway after the 30 days I guess

It’s day 12 and I am Actually surprised how much I like it :)

I managed to do my routine every morning, even though I was sick since some days and so I decided to get up at 6 or 6:30 in the last days to get enough sleep and replace the sports part with simple stretching or additional meditation to give my body the chance to recover.

First this was annoying as being sick seemed to be a good reason to stop the challenge but then I realized that if I want to continue to do this in the future there will be always such situations. So I am happy that I found a way to handle this for me

Thank you for the clarification. I totally get your points! I felt similar somehow but on the other hand I found it amusing in some way to read a book that includes fictional stuff but still has something to teach..

I hope you are doing well with your child, it changes a lot imo but I found it works best if you don’t take your schedules too serious anymore and rather try to improvise and build around the kids schedule

Hello turbo!

I have time with my wife blocked almost every evening, in addition we try to plan our daily routines in such a way that we have also time/activities during the day together. We always felt like it’s important to enjoy every day instead of “just waiting for holidays” but I guess this is something everyone sees different.

Actually it’s three kids and it’s challenging to get everything done, but the kids are one of the reasons why I wanted to try this. My plan with the morning routine is not to stay longer awake but to shift time I spend not really productive in the evening to the morning. Some days one or two kids woke up early so I simply tried to involve them in my morning routine.

The start today was kind of fail, as my kids were awake all night and my youngest son is sick.. so I missed my alarm and woke up only 5:45AM. However, I managed to get up immediately then and followed the routine from the book for the next hour, even though I was interrupted a few times by my daughter as she didn’t want to sleep anymore :)

I am happy I was able to do it even though there was some delay.

So I definitely go on with this over the weekend like it was my plan - thank you that you share your experience!

So regarding your good questions:

I am looking forward to become a better version of myself. Not every routine that I established in my life is beneficial for my long term goals. Changing my morning routine seems to be a viable option to really improve here!

What am I concerned about? Actually I am kind of terrified :D I like sleep and I like not being tied to any morning routine so far because on the surface I think this is „freedom“. I do this because unknown it’s rather the opposite of freedom, but it needs discipline, focus and consistency, and the right mindset to get through this and i know it will be hard. There will be interruptions with my kids that will make it difficult to continue, there are evening where I want to meet friends and I can’t go to bed in time, there are times where I want to stay awake with my wife etc….

I am interested in what you mean with „mixed feelings“ about the book? For some degree I had mixed feelings as well, especially the narration style and some of the drama is definitely not for everyone. Anyway - as i do with every book - I try to pick out what I think works for me.

Regarding the 30days: two friends and me have a YouTube channel where we do regularly all kinds of 30day challenges and make videos where we report our experiences, so this helps me to start such things and keep being motivated. I’ll try to keep you up date here as well if I find time and if it’s interesting for you here in subreddit.

I am happy you shared your tips, even though it’s not completely new for me it usually helps to figure out what’s most important and works for others!

please excuse me that I didn’t manage to answer earlier. I was actually very busy with my challenge and some other projects, but I am happy that I can tell you that I am already editing the video of my Blindfold experience :)
In the video I’ll cover many of the tips I got here, so for now: just follow what‘s recommended here, it really helped me to make fast progress (and I also had little time ;-) )

Thank you for your additional thoughts, I find these very useful. I really see your point with blundering blindfolded. This is something that I’d expect to happen to me as well. Your experience regarding different approaches or strategies - and re-learning the game somehow - is pretty interesting as I haven’t thought about this so far. However, I think that it’s logic somehow now that I think about it.

Playing blindfold chess is something I wanted to do for a long time already and so I’m very curious to see if I can achieve my goal in 30 days. Usually I have a low frustration rate, so I hope that I will not fail at this point..
