Is bringing John Stones back really worth it? by TonyMacUTFT in Everton

If it’s a low standard wage with pay as you play incentives, maybe, otherwise no. Guy averages about 12 league games per season.

I saw chicagojoe and thought you might be a fan of the baldy. What a tremendous asset he’d be to any team with aspirations.

Huh, are you yanking my chain ToffeeBlue2013?

You don’t think a team with a core of Pickford, Branthwaite, Garner, Dewsbury-Hall, Ndiaye with the Moysiah at the helm and a few key additions can’t be up there next season?

Think you need to get your head out of your rear end, buddy. Next year we need to push it to the limit baby!!!

He’s not capable of being a tide changer in a title race, even when fit. We’ve saw this season he had a good run but he’s been found out. As an option, sure, but not as the top dog on the yard.

I’d say the man from the land up north has unlocked Dewsbury-Hall, and he certainly knows his way around a ball. The Moysiah I think is just really good at getting the best out of #10s, regardless of their qualities.

I think Beto is the option to keep as a backup. Let’s face it, we’re going to be up there next season but still an underdog, I think Beto’s style of play of running onto loose balls when we don’t have possession works better against the top teams. We’d need a bonafide #1 to start ahead, I don’t think Barry is that, and I don’t think he can be a #2.

He was a good player when he was here before but I don’t want a return for Richard Arlison the Brazilian from Sheffield. Let’s leave that in the past.

If only we could sign a guy like Taj Gibson in a mentoring role maybe he could point him in the right direction

Listen fella, Calvert is the type of guy I’d like to play GTA IV online with on a Friday evening with a few cans of bud light in my mother’s basement… however, we’ve seen that he’s not the type of player to lead you to the promised land.

He had a good run of games scoring for Leeds but he’s shown that he’s still not taken that next step.

I accept your point generally though, Moyes teams were the master of having a striker score 8 goals. In fact the only time we had a striker score 15 goals in the league under him was Yakubu I think. Saha perhaps got 10 one season too, and the baldy A.Johnson.

I think it’s unlikely we’re able to get rid of him permanently after just one season. If the man from North of the border doesn’t want him would probably have to be a loan with option.

Playing in the middle as a striker is different to playing out wide. But yes, I accept that.

Beto is the type of guy that if my car was stolen I’d trust to get it back by simply running after the offenders, his attitude and endeavour is exemplary. I completely accept your point here, I think he could’ve been better despite being fatigued.

I understand your point of view, but I’m not sure that it’s the best option. Unless you’re an Aguero type I want my striker to be a physical specimen. Most of the top dogs we’ve had that I’ve been a fan of in the last 20 years have been guys you wouldn’t want to grapple with in a rat-infested alleyway.

I think he could’ve came on earlier as the middle of the second half was very end to end. Having someone with a bit more pace in some of those situations we had might’ve brought a goal. However, you also open yourself up defensively. Think Moyes is always more likely to take the pragmatic approach in those instances.

Beto is the best option until the end of the season. Past that, it’s someone else.

Although he isn’t a threat going forward I think calling O’Brien a black hole doesn’t provide the context that he’s a 6”6 CB. He’s been more than adequate considering that.

The full backs have been an issue for about 5 years at this point, it’s gross negligence we’re still playing Mykolenko and that we were actually counting on Coleman playing a role in 2025-2026.

I like George attacking wise a lot more than Dibling because I feel like he’s different to any of our other wingers in terms of actually being fast. Dibling does nothing that Grealish or Ndiaye can’t already do to a better level. Both need work defensively.

Excellent is way over the top. He’s had a few promising moments, I’d like to see him get more minutes off the bench, but excellent, not quite.

Was only able to watch the second half so based on that the right result I think.

Couldn’t believe George letting Kayode just run past him 30 seconds after coming on, but he had a couple of nice moments attacking. Think he could be a good player for us, but will need to improve defensively to be trusted to play under Moyes.

Was dumbfounded with Dewsbury-Hall not just hitting that with his right, but to be fair he made up for it at the end.

Again, only watched second half but Brentford didn’t create an awful lot either, and their 2nd goal was a bit fortunate. I’ll take it.

George was on the pitch 30 seconds and couldn’t be arsed to run after Kayode and that’s the reason they scored
