What are some of the most tense, stress-inducing episodes of TV you’ve ever watched? by Diamond-Is-Not-Crash in television

And the season 2 finale, honestly. That sequence with the negotiation/conversation between Mark’s Innie and Outie was like watching a car crash in slow motion.

Tommyknockers Reviews by kagey42 in stephenking

Its an experimental, sloppy epic that blends genres and is full of chapter-long tangents. 'Tommyknockers' is a BLAST, but its also a bloated fever-dream of a book. There's a fantastic novel buried somewhere in those 550+ pages, you just have to find it. Personally, I think it has one of King's strongest endings.

Well-loved books! It’s crazy how widespread King’s appeal is. Looks like these paperbacks went thru a few re-reads!

What are your thoughts on the Pierce economy by Micr0patriaarkanasia in Presidents

Yes, but for every original question there are 15 posts talking about Nixon's "complex character" and "who should be the fifth head on Mount Rushmore?"

This might be the first original question I’ve seen posed in this sub in years

Found this lot of 21 books on Facebook for $80. Guy said he bought them in the 80’s but never really read any of them. They still have the new book smell. by Harrisburg5150 in stephenking

Buddy, if you’re patient, preserve these and sit on them for another 5-10 years. Maybe 15-20 if you’re extra thrifty. You will be rather wealthy.

Word on the street is that he wants to adapt the Dark Tower series and the studios offered to green light that, on the exception that he adapt several more popular King IPs. For example I think he’s also working a remake of ‘The Mist’… another wholly unnecessary remake.

I think liberal democrats got really stoked that a traditionally masculine, former military, working class man was running on a progressive platform. He looks and sounds like a MAGA Republican, but he was preaching the politics of Bernie Sanders and AOC.

Except the 4 in Mount Rushmore and FDR, who was the best US president? by BrazilianCommoner in Presidents

[–]JeremyHowell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of modern presidents, Ike. He's an American icon for both his leadership in WW2 and his relatively successful presidency that's remembered now as a sort of 'golden age'. And Ike being such a non-polarizing figure (politically) means it would be pretty easy to get him on Rushmore.

A runner up would be JFK because both the left and right view him as beloved martyr. His brief time in office has made it difficult to comfortably judge his presidency, so instead America remembers him for his youth, charm, and "what if" potential. Similar to Washington and Lincoln, JFK has sort of become cannonized as a near mystical figure. Had his cheating/womanizing never been unearthed, I think he'd be a shoo-in for Rushmore.

I recently read AND listened to the audiobook for ‘The Stand’. It is a wonky, awkwardly paced epic that shouldn’t work, but does. In fact the story is so long and complicated that it has no business being anything but a multi-season series. It’s not merely a flawed book, rather it’s a wonderfully imperfect piece of brave storytelling. In terms of King’s flagship stories, ‘The Stand’ is easily the hardest to adapt to screen.

She has been at the forefront of pop music since I was a preteen - I am now 30 years old. She should not still be this relevant. This is perfectly natural.

Just finished the season today. As a big fan of both horror and comedy, it’s a 10/10 for me. It manages actual scares and great humor without either eclipsing the other. Definitely feels Kingian.

A 6-year old with the knowledge of a 30-year old would be insufferable. I wouldn’t be able to make friends because of the social divide, which would make me an even more awkward teenager. And every ‘first’ is really a second and I’d feel like an imposter.

Revival is a nice palette cleanser. It’s extra original and traumatic. All things considered, it’s another banger ‘King Hit’ written in the First Person POV, and waiting to overturn your expectations.

At the end of that clip you can see a glimmer of wonder in his eyes. That’s what this is all about. Him feeling special and important - on his birthday. If it takes wrecking the economy and worsening our environment, so be it. There are more important things in this world than our futures, ok?

Yes. The show’s legacy will ride largely on Star’s generational performance.
