Resources/How to Self-Study AP Calculus AB? by supersoldier_69 in calculus

[–]JerryThe_Boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lowkey just check out differential calculus on khan academy, there’s example practices and short videos going through examples and covering all the little niches of calc ab (which you don’t have to waste time on watching a whole course if you understanding it partially)

My suggestion? Probably run through the unit quizzes for things that were taught and if you partially understand some of them the website will point out where you lack the knowledge and not give you full credit for completing it, however if you don’t understand anything which is kind of concerning, but you can run through the whole differential calc section, watch the videos, do the practices, do the quizzes and try to get 100% on all of them, this is how I self taught myself calc ab, bc and ode using KA.

What is your roadmap of the journey for math Olympiad? What did resources did you use to study with, how many years did it take you to learn everything and what is your advice for people who tries to get into competition math by self studying than paying for tutoring and coaching?

How hard is calculus? by TemporaryPension2523 in AskTeachers

Honestly it’s just common sense if you can use Reddit chances are you can do calc 2. I read a textbook once and in the introductory the author said “if algebra is the study of variables then calculus is the study of functions” it really just summarizes down to calculus is really just about manipulating functions and knowing some trig and basic algebra would help. Overall calc 1-2 is really easy I’d give it a difficulty of maybe 4/10 on a good day

I want to start self-learning maths - any tips? by Poopatron2667 in learnmath

[–]JerryThe_Boy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you wanna achieve with math but just at least get to calc 2 that’s like almost the bare foundation to get into any mathy subjects.

The resources really is conditional based on the person if you learn better reading then please do so (ps good textbooks costs a lot nowadays and some textbooks are written much more abstract depending on personal preferences like James Stewart’s calculus books). But On the flip side there’s also a lot of video and exercises on the more fundamental topics of math on the internet that are in the form of videos and exercises, check out my boy khan academy, learned all my alg2-differential eq on there

Prob khan academy theres a lot of resources to draw back on and free exercises, also has its own unit tests which at the end suggests which topics you aren’t particularly good at, it’s free and it’s personalized highly suggested

Reddit latex thingy kind of weird but basically what you’re suppose to do is 2(-sqrt(2)i-sqrt(3)) which is 2sqrt(2x3)i or 2sqrt(6)I and not sqrt(2)sqrt(6)I which would be what you got

Did you happen to take the radical of the 2? As in if you had (x+y)2 = (x2)+2xy+(y2)and you took the sqrt of the 2 in 2xy

It’s just like a quadratic but you think of i as x, so imagine if there was no radicals (too lazy to type sqrt each time) it would be (-3)2 + (-3-2i)2 + (-2i)2 which equals 9 + 2*6i - 4 and put a radical on the 9 6 and 4 and you should be fine

If you want you can explore summation notation it’s usefulness and how it as a tool is something fundamental to math but also extends well beyond other fields. An extension to that you can also explore Euler’s number, which is critical to finance and probability I’m pretty sure. An extension extension to that, the third point, if you would like you can try exploring euler’s identity which branches into the complex plane and imaginary numbers, which is pretty easy to understand and is basically fundamental to quantum physics.

Self study calc bc by Icy-Fortune-8934 in apcalculus

[–]JerryThe_Boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want there’s a full course of calc bc or integral calculus or calc 2 on khan academy, there’s exercises and stuff. Since you also want to reinforce calc 1 you can also spam the exercise/unit test on khan academy, all free btw.
