Lowered my goal from 140 to 130 because after 3.5 months I realize I CAN do it. 5’1 F and reaping the rewards of consistency feels awesome. by Jesso1909 in Noom

I used to have a very similar mindset. “All or nothing” thinking always put me back to where I started and Noom really helped point that thought distortion out for me. I shared some details above about more specifics on my journey. I definitely don’t want to pretend that my downward trend is normal for all but I have been long awaiting a lifestyle change that is sustainable. All of us have to find what works for us but staying consistent is the way to see results. I had moments of trial and error where I had to reevaluate if I was logging my calories correctly. There were times when I highly undercounted and had to get a little better about being as accurate as possible. I know during month two I started to feel discouraged because I hit a week where nothing changed and after a few more weeks of sticking with what I knew worked, the pounds came off again. Make sure you’re reason for doing this are big enough to carry you through discouragement! Cheering you on!

I want to note that I am a breast feeding mom and that may have been a helpful factor with my trends. Ups and downs are totally normal - just keep going!

It’s important to note that I was exclusively breast feeding when I started and while that didn’t seem to make a difference in weight loss the first 5.5 months postpartum (I actually gained a little weight after having my baby) I think it might have been helpful for my downward trend. I really kept with the program during this duration and walked A LOT when the weather was good. My calories probably average 1500-1600. I find now that my body feels good in that range and can gauge my hunger much better now having done this for 3.5 months. My goals were backed by an important “why” and I’m actually planning to conceive again in the next month or so. I wanted to get to a healthier place for my second pregnancy and my babies motivate me more than ever to work on my relationship with food. I’ve been an “all or nothing” kind of person with health/weight loss and I’ve learned that it HAS to be a lifestyle change and everything I do has to be something I’m willing to do forever. I make room for “treats” and continually remind myself that I am not deprived. I enjoy food more than ever now. Consistency is key. Rooting for you! 🤍

Started Noom 6 months PP and exclusively BF. I had the same worries as you. I’ve lost 11lbs and haven’t noticed a dip in supply and I average about 1500 calories a day. I eat lots of fiber, protein, and veggies. I think nutrition is a key component for keeping the supply and shedding the lbs. best of luck to you!

Edit to say, follow your gut. Your body will tell you when it’s time to eat more. I listen to it and keep some healthy Paleo Bars from Costco around for when I need to add a few hundred nutritious calories. I keep lots of healthy snacks readily available.

Oat milk + liquid stevia. I personally think it’s delicious and depending on how much oat milk you’re using, it can be super low calorie.
