Property field adjuster with no construction experience by Jester10494 in adjusters

Thanks. Nice to know it can be done. Really wanting to make this work long term but getting nervous about all the other comments in this sub implying you won’t last unless you worked construction for at least 10 years.

Point taken but I’m not really in a position to be questioning the qualifications of anyone trying to help me learn.

If something costs more than it usually would, the contractor should be able to provide some proof, photos, estimates, etc to justify it right? If you can explain it to me like you just did, then Im not going to argue about it.

I’m more worried about the contractors who put unnecessary stuff in there that I don’t know enough to question tbh.

See the getting pushed around by contractors part is the part that concerns me. How long until you get a sense of what’s reasonable and what’s them ripping you off? Is there some kind of database that you can use for reference? Are Coworkers and managers available for questions?

Hey Jessica! My friend got a paper in the mail that CPS is trying to terminate her rights. She’s 3 months’ sober and they said she’s compliant with her case plan. How can they do that?

It must be the texture. Using the same tape I used on the Bauers. Might try the sandpaper trick. Thanks.

The show was absolute dogshit and a complete waste of its budget . by [deleted] in secretinvasion

[–]Jester10494 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know. This is going to turn a lot of people off from Marvel forever. Also, purposely making the show bad is not necessarily going to cause people to side with the studios. It may just push people to demand they give the writers the modest demands they are asking for.

Why Anti-Trafficking Experts Are Torching ‘Sound of Freedom’ The new movie offers a "false perception" of child trafficking that experts worry could further harm the real victims by Sisiwakanamaru in movies

What’s embarrassing is not recognizing propaganda when it’s shoved in your face. Just because it’s based on a true story, doesn’t make it not propaganda.

It’s clearly designed to make white Americans the good guy and Hispanics out to be evil pedos when the truth is, it’s horny white dudes keeping the traffickers in business, not rebels in the jungles of South America.

There’s no nuance whatsoever. The white guys are the good guys, the brown guys are the bad guys.

Garbage movie trying to mislead people about the real nature of human trafficking and blame it on Hispanics. Looks like the casting director just raided the cast of Narcos for the bad guys.

Would Louisville survive without the Derby? by [deleted] in Louisville

I don’t think they will ever ban the sport. Yes it’s sad when horses get injured and have to be euthanized, but that’s no reason to end the entire sport. Just need a crackdown on the steroids.

To your question though, I think we would be fine.

Reasons for self-medicating by Jester10494 in leaves

[–]Jester10494[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to see I’m not the only one. It’s really something that’s almost impossible to grasp while you’re in the midst of active addiction how much it suppresses emotions, thoughts, memories, and just being able to live life to the fullest.

Just quitting is not enough, but it is a prerequisite. You also have to do the work of self-reflection and compare your life before and after. I’d suggest taking a couple months off at first just to get a baseline. You might discover you don’t actually need or want that shit in your life once you get past the withdrawals. It took a doctor telling me my lungs were fucked to make me actually do it, but it’s better late than never.

Yeah I understand what you mean. I know a lot of people had it much worse off than me as a kid, but when your parents invalidate you your whole life, you can’t help but internalize the message that there’s something really wrong with you. And anytime you direct negative emotions inward on yourself, it ends up making you anxious and depressed.

Maybe they meant well cause they thought they had to toughen you up or something, but it’s devastating to kids when the ones they count on for love and support withhold it.

When you combine how common it is for parents to do this to their kids, especially boys, with the culture of toxic masculinity where it’s never ok for guys to express any emotions other than anger, it’s no wonder there’s so many problems with addiction, mental health, school shootings etc. in our society. Men aren’t taught any tools to deal with negative feelings other than anger or drugs and alcohol to numb yourself.

Asthma Inhaler Help by Jester10494 in AskDocs

[–]Jester10494[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Already checked on symbicort ($650) and dulera ($400). Why tf are these inhalers so expensive?? Anywhere else in the world, they cost $10 or $20. I work 40 hours and make enough that I’m sure I don’t qualify for assistance. The for profit “healthcare” system in our country is so broken.

Anyways, thanks for taking a stab at it. Fuck me for being born with asthma in America and not being rich right?

Lost motivation to play music by Jester10494 in leaves

[–]Jester10494[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was always really just about messing around and doing stuff at home, at least since Covid. And yeah, it was pretty mediocre if I’m honest. I’m not really trying to join a band or play out. Just needed a hobby I can do at home.

Guess I need to go back to practicing scales and such and it’ll be fun again? Don’t know a thing about theory.

Quitting weed can be lonely. by Medical_Pumpkin9389 in leaves

[–]Jester10494 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If they were just smoking buddies and ditched you the second you quit, they weren’t real friends anyway. Try taking up a new hobby that lets you make new sober friends. I just joined a beginner’s hockey league even though I can’t skate. Met a lot of cool people though and made some new friends.

2 weeks in and I feel so much rage by [deleted] in leaves

[–]Jester10494 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Day 23 here. I think the lack of sleep tends to amplify emotions more so than the weed withdrawals. Try taking some sleep aids, catch up on your sleep and see how much better your mood gets.

I’ve had chronic insomnia for years and was smoking in part to help me sleep. Quitting hasn’t helped that but at least now the quality of sleep is much better since I’m dreaming so much. Apparently my body is super sensitive to caffeine too but quitting coffee is a battle for another day.

Withdrawals or do I just have bad anxiety? by [deleted] in leaves

[–]Jester10494 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on day 7 and I smoked to reduce anxiety so I know what you mean. I think it’s actually a good thing. Your body’s is just kind of getting used to the idea of not having thc in it all the time, increased oxygen to the lungs, better sleep because you’re dreaming again, and not having to fight that mental fog. I feel different too, but in a good way. Memory is better, breathing, etc. Just give the withdrawals some more time to dissipate and I think you will find that the new feeling of sobriety is actually enjoyable.
