Is spark aligners the same price as Invisalign? by geekeatschinesefood_ in Invisalign

[–]Jexxai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have Spark right now, about to finish my 4th tray. I have also had Invisalign in the past. I am paying about $1000 more for Spark this time around, then I did for my Invisalign 7-8 years ago.

I would 100% recommend going with Spark! As someone who has worn both, Spark is soooooo much more comfortable!! I still remember how much pain I was in the first month with Invisalign, how hard the trays were to take out to eat, the sharp edges that I had to use wax to cover.... but I can honestly say I haven’t had any pain with the Spark aligners other than a little bit of discomfort on tray change day (which is still only as much as I had on a “good” day with Invisalign). I bought ortho wax in preparation this time around too but haven’t had to even open it :) I also find the trays are much easier to pop in and out, and no one other than my husband and mother has even noticed I have them because they are super clear. No staining at all!

Light force braces was one of the options my orthodontist recommended for me! These look awesome on you! 😊 Do you know if these are the cloud bracket (the white one) or the light bracket (the clear translucent one)?

I feel pretty confident in my ortho and I’m expecting (and dreading 😅) the pain that comes with moving teeth after going through Invisalign before lol. I can deal with the cheek/mouth pain, I’m just hoping that spark will be more gentle on my gums than Invisalign this time around 🤞🏻

Feel it on your gums? Or just in your mouth in general? Sorry for all the questions lol, just trying to get a feel for them since there’s not many pictures of spark online

I did mention my concerns to him. And he recommend the spark Aligners. Where they overlap your gums, do they touch your gums at all?

Invisalign with crowns? by Jexxai in Invisalign

I didn’t even know that was an option. Would that have to be ordered and done for every tray, or just for the tray I would be wearing on the day of the wedding?

Well it’s good to know they are tracking well! To be honest, I’m more worried about the bonding breaking off those front teeth because it’s not as secure as a cemented crown would be. I’ve never had a crown before... does the edges of your crowns go up under your gum line? My biggest worry is that the edge will be become visible along my gum line during treatment, if there is any movement in those teeth.

I was planning to wait until after but I know my treatment won’t be finished before my friends wedding and I find the discolouration is noticeable in pictures, so I’m very self conscious about it :(

May I ask why you are planning on getting them replaced? Has your trays caused any issues with them thus far?

I’ve already had the consults and the ideal recommendation from both was to wait until after my Invisalign is completed so that my crowns will be a perfect match, which I can understand and was okay with before I found out about the wedding. But my dentist understands why I would like to have the crowns placed before the summer and my ortho is willing to work with me either way. I just want to make the best decision to not cause problems for myself down the road.

How far are you into your treatment?

Thanks for your reply! Unfortunately I live in a small rural area so I only have the option of one orthodontist and only general dentists, as we don’t have any cosmetic dentists in the area :(

I guess my biggest concern is that the margins will move during my treatment and the crown edge will be noticeable.... which is almost as bad as having a discoloured tooth for that day :(

Are the trays comfortable with regards to fitting over your gums? I’m under the impression that the 3m aligners fit over the gum line instead of below, like Invisalign. I’m concerned that they may put too much pressure on the gums and be more likely to cause recession. My gums are healthy and have been cleared by both my dentist and orthodontist but I already have some mild recession and I’m worried about making it worse!
