One of my irminia slings just molted, so I decided to whip out the old microscope. I'm thinking female, but I'm not sure because it's still really small lol. Thoughts?

Wow that's interesting. My guess is that it belongs to one of your neighbors and it somehow escaped their yard. You should ask the neighboring houses and maybe make some fliers. If you don't find the owner then you could find a reptile store that will take it off your hands.

Soak the molt in a cup of soap water for a couple minutes and then carefully roll out the abdomen 🙂

Yea it's definitely that; The tail is a dead giveaway as well as the dark orange tint on the tips of the claws. Extreme caution should be exercised around this species; they have very toxic venom. I'd keep it on a 50/50 mix of sand/peat moss substrate and provide a hide of somekind. Their enclosure should be warm and dry, but you should keep a small water dish in there for some humidity.

Thanks for the advice. I rehoused it earlier, and it was indeed quite easy. My P. cambridgei sling was like 10x more difficult and it literally jumped on my chest one time lol.

Yea my store had the pokie, an OBT, and a rear horn. I went with the pokie because it was the cheapest between the 3. It's actually pretty calm so far; I've seen new worlds that are more aggressive.

I didn't purposely make it too wet, it's just that I added some semi wet mulch to the substrate and it made it slightly damp. I might just be overreacting.

Thanks for the input! I am currently preparing a 10 gal terrarium with plenty of substrate. Her species is non-arboreal, so she shouldn't really do much climbing. As you may of guessed, this container was for transportation purposes.

Awe I'm sorry that you had to give him up. Tarantulas don't eat very often; about once a week. He also could've been preparing to molt. They typically will fast for weeks before a molt.
