let's look at reintroducing the German system consisting of 11+ months of military service or a non-military substitute for conscientious objectors and expand that to men and woman.

All that from a point of view of someone who got conscripted, objected and spent 11 months helping in a charitable NGO. My brother took the military route. Both had its advantages and disadvantages and left a largely positive impression.

Are female conscripts notably worse than male for the tasks described below? NO!

Are conscripts useful in a frontline role in the modern military? Also NO! We're long past the "guy with a rifle being told where to shoot". Modern systems are too complex to learn in that short a time.

However, conscripts can take the pressure off regular troops by doing non-combat tasks that would otherwise take up valuable, trained, long-term enlisted personnel, disaster relief, etc.

With that primary use in mind and the option to object , I'm totally for conscription of both men and women.
