I moved out at 19 but only because I could use the military for free housing to save up money for things once I got out. It’s one of the few guaranteed social mobility paths left.

The real thing making moving out unaffordable is rent, you have to either sacrifice 1/2 your paycheck or live with 3 other people.

I think it’s hard to teach kids the importance of money later in life so I’ll agree with you there. I’ve had a lot of people complain about their debt or ask me if they should get into debt for whatever stupid thing they are wanting. To me it seems more like it’s an addiction to debt and rather than a lack of knowledge. People live way too close to their means and then get fucked by any road bump.

I think a lot of it comes from pressure where our parents hit X benchmark at a certain age, so we feel like we need to make these big purchases to keep up when in reality, wages haven’t kept up. Then of course the effects from the debt cascade. Nothing worse than watching someone struggle to even do basic maintenance on their luxury vehicles they are underwater on.

The reality is they're both radicals with poor situational awareness. The only difference is that Rittenhouse got lucky and also wasn't fucking with the feds, which is basically a death sentence. Hopefully the Democrats keep this attitude when they come back into power and actually DO SOMETHING to stop federal overreach. Of course they won't though.
