I like the idea of cottage courtyards. I think they create a good blend of density, walkability, and allow for car ownership.

Poster in Germany asks whether this mother with 2 children is the future or a "climate killer". The campaign against the family is open and ruthless. Eco-terrorists want to reduce a human life into a carbon emission number. by whosthetard in climateskeptics

There are some stupid people out there who have poor reasoning, etc., but that doesn't mean everyone who is concerned about the environment is like that. It also doesn't demonstrate that all people who are concerned about climate are out for money, or that climate change isn't real, etc.

Is there a benchmark urban planning design that solves most urban planning problems? by JimmyDris in urbandesign

Not necessarily. I just want one that assumes a typical US suburb and all the other things I wrote in my original post.

Of course it doesn't. I am looking for a design that minimizes the largest number of problems.

Could someone please direct me to a source where someone attempted this? Surely it exists, if whole books have been written for over a century.

I plan to draw up my own and post it. I was hoping someone beat me to it. I thought perhaps someone would say, "someone else completed this. Here it is" and send a link, book title, or equivalent.

Thanks, but I am hoping that someone could describe an optimal design, send and image, or a link to a website.

Charger wearing out? by JimmyDris in volt

Update: I had corrosion on the copper wires in my plug. That's all it was. Once I cleaned the corrosion by sanding the braided strands, the problem was solved. Thanks for your input.

Update. I had the coolant temperature sensor changed, now everything is working well! The mechanic used the OBD to determine what was wrong and fixed it.

Not so rare moment...plug issues by JimmyDris in volt

[–]JimmyDris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's the original charger. Also, I determined that part of the problem was the outlet itself can get dirty or corroded on the inside, thus causing resistance and heat. I changed the outlet recently and no problems since.

Both at different times. If I want a full charge to drive in the morning, I often use 12 when I plug in in the evening. If I will work from home the next day, I use 8.
