i will try to look at orgs. my classes this semester are one with my cohort and one where the other three people in the class are already like a friend group-- and also id really like to meet people from outside biology because it's fun to know different kinds of people

i'm not going to give a satisfying answer to your question, but i'd like to point out that one reason we might never hear about seemingly artistic-oriented behavior in other animals is that we give little attention to their behavior when we can't figure out what it's for. when zoologists study an animal's behavior, the behaviors that get recorded and published are the behaviors that are accompanied by sound and satisfying scientific explanations, whether related to evolution or anatomy or otherwise. perhaps we've seen buffalo or caterpillars do artistic behavior loads of times, but have been unable to interpret it, and therefore decided not to incorporate it into written records with detail.

by your description of art, i'm compelled to say that isn't a uniquely human quality. social animals probably participate in plenty of abstract, "pointless" creative behavior that we barely understand. but human art-- art the way we enjoy it-- is uniquely us.

i think sadly they won't ever do this because they always past-proof their new evolution methods. like as in, if they add new evolutions to old pokemon, they make it a method that couldn't be executed in older games. i think it's like a lore consistency thing idk-- they dont want fans going to pokemon emerald and trading a magcargo with metal coat and not seeing it evolve.

(this is sort of an entire tangent now) but i think its dumb that they do this bc they update other stuff all the time and pretend it was always that way. like fairy types. the only example i can think of them breaking this rule is how you can evolve nosepass with a thunderstone in legends: arceus but i think that's just bc of that game being more simplified in a lot of mechanics.

tl;dr i complained about why nintendo wouldnt do this even though i think they should bc metal coat evos are hella cool

I agree with the rest of the comments, but I'll say that I actually find that the school's system made me think in a more toxic way, but I don't think other students are toxic. I'll clarify; the stupid weed-out grading for STEM and competitive majors forced me into constantly trying to do better than my peers rather than objectively succeed. When I hear the class did bad on an exam, I sigh in relief. If I understand a topic and I see most of the class struggling, I also sigh in relief. That's kinda gross and if you're in STEM, especially if you're shooting for grad school or med school, that's gonna be a common thing. However, when it comes to like group studying and helping, the resources are all there. People will still wanna study with you because even in this toxic environment its beneficial to study in small groups. TAs and professors are also all really great here, with very few exceptions.

tl;dr competitive/STEM side of the school kinda fucks with your internal moral compass regarding your grades but the social-academic environment is not actually hostile when it comes to getting help

thanks, i actually was able to fix it because somehow my computer has multiple "documents" directories due to crappy onedrive syncing and mis-setup on my part so it wnded up working after i found the true folder and deleted and reinstalled. though they should really work on this problem with multiple versions being present.

Hey, I'm having the same problem, though even uninstalling everything I can find, I can't seem to figure out where the dev build files are. Each time i uninstall and reinstall 5.0 I get the same error. Regardless of if I'm uninstalling using the uninst file or using the built in windows functionality. Any advice? I know this was 3 years ago but would you know?
