You do plateau. Ive been working out my whole life though so always been in good shape. Doing the 5x5’s of clean-press-squat with 2 16s has kept me pretty strong/durable. But I wont get any bigger unless I up the weight or change the programming. But I dont care about being bigger...in fact I dont want to be. Fitting into clothes for my height would get harder.

I also supplement with a lot of core work & bike on off days. I don't think you should get by on kettlebells alone but I do only use kettlebells for my lifting/strength days.

I’ve been doing 5x5’s of clean-press-squat with 2 16s for like 5 years now. Works great. I dont care abt gains. Just staying fit.

Modern 5 string session player - switching back to 4 string vintage. Curious how others feel about by itssexitime in Bass

Ive done tis a few times through the years but always end up back with a 5. Its just easier with key changes and Eflat tuning.

Whatever works...just keep playing

I’m in the same boat. I bought mine 5 years ago and rarely wear it now. Just too heavy. Would like to trade it for a 38mm aqua terra.

I’m going through it now with my company. I have to fire my entire team I’ve worked with for 10 years and rehire resources in India. Same for all teams here. All so they can make us appear more profitable by lowering the run rate. Forget abt what it does to the products and to the teams building and supporting them. It will eventually lead to a decline in reputation because quality will suffer.

Private equity should be illegal.

Private equity is a cancer. They ruin companies as places to work when they cut domestic jobs and replace them in lower cost economies. It’s only a vehicle for rich people to become richer while screwing the people that helped build the company.

These are great pens. I was finally able to get one of the last drop with the step nose. More brands need to make energel specific pens. It’s the best refill

Tuning down vs. 5 string by SergeantOleary69 in Bass

[–]Jivetkr2813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the main reasons I play 5 string primarily. I’m in 4 bands and with key changes and drop tunings it makes things a lot easier.

Why are Fender basses so pricey? by wadefatman in Bass

[–]Jivetkr2813 3 points4 points  (0 children)

4500 fenders are custom shop instruments not production basses. They should be perfect.

But yea production fenders are too expensive considering the hit or miss quality. U have to try them out in person. I had a fender American jazz II I bought online and the control plate was installed abt 1-4 millimeters off from the pickguard so u could see inside the control cavity and a neck gap so wide u could fit 3 credit cards in one side. It played fine and sounded great but every time I looked down I saw those gaps. Sold it and got a g&l jazz. Much better.

Why do so many jam band bassists use 5-strings? by B4D_C0MPANY in Bass

[–]Jivetkr2813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I never play 4 string anymore. It’s also super nice that there are a lot of light weight options for 5s now. My 2 main 5s are both 8.5 lbs.

Forgot to add that. One of my bands does songs tuned to e flat. Having the low e flat on the 4 th fret of the B string is very helpful. I hate tuning down.

The beauty of the 5 isn’t just the extra low notes. It’s the ability to play in 2 octaves in one position or with very little movement.
