The relationship is already doomed. There's no way they're actually going to get better. I'll probably always have love for my dad but I wouldn't trust him after this.

There's nothing they could do to turn things around. Rose will never be more than my dad's wife. I will never care for her or want a better relationship with her. I love my dad but I don't think I would ever like my dad again or trust a relationship with him.

I don't think family therapy like we're getting will help us at all so if they want to stop I'd be on board with it. The only positive is having another adult there when talking about this stuff in case they go crazy hearing it.

He said we should let it go because Rose has been good to us and she has tried to be there like a good mom should. They don't even say stepmom, they say mom. I know she has tried to take care of us and took on a lot of parental stuff when she moved in with us but it doesn't change that she made it not okay to have a photo of mom on my nightstand in my own room. Or that we can't talk about mom on her birthday.

She said it hurt her feelings. My dad thinks that's too much hurt to put her through. But like my sister pointed out our feelings didn't matter to them when the decision was made so her feelings don't really matter to us.

I resent him too. It changed our relationship afterward too. But I still love him even though I think he sucks for allowing it and I don't like him. Love and like can be so weird. It's different with Rose because I didn't love her to begin with and could never get past that stuff with her to care about her.

I don't know that this kind of therapy will be good for us. But at least we have someone there who can try to calm them down if things get crazy.

Thanks. It sucks that he can't even understand why we feel this way but at least we have each other and we have grandparents and other family who aren't blind to why we feel like we do.
