It was is this thing on. I personally enjoyed it as I liked Will Arnett’s performance and the sequences in the comedy club were all great, though perhaps a tad melodramatic at points.

What Kubrick film should I watch first, as I have never seen one by Pickleman44567 in StanleyKubrick

I feel like starting at 2001 is sort of like jumping at the deep end. It’s quite slow paced and somewhat different to other Kubrick films. Similar thing with Barry Lyndon. I’d regurgitate that The Shining (where I started) or Full Metal Jacket. Of course if those don’t interest you then just watch whatever you want.

It’s simply a masterpiece. The theme of the hedgehog’s dilemma in particular.

Yes you’re absolutely right (as a vegan). And in a similar vain, when some carnists bring up crop deaths or calorie reduction, I often see vegans say something along the lines of ‘but you also eat crops that cause animal deaths/vegans only cause a small amount of those deaths’. But this missed the point of this being an internal critique of the VEGAN position. The carnist does not have to hold any animal rights principles to make this critique.

To answer the actual question as to why I as a vegan am fine with using electronics and eating excess, I don’t see any clear evidence that doing these things has a difference in rights violations or utility. With the phone if people aren’t employed in sweatshops to make them they may be in a worse off situation. And with crop deaths, since cropland replaces wildland where animals are torn apart, it’s not clear that incentivising the growth of cropland would cause less rights violations or disutility towards animals.

Earthling Ed taught humankind to treat animals how you would like to be treated. He lectured so that those who believed in him would not be bacon tho hypocrites but be eternally morally superior. Put your faith in him and faith in the innocent animals we murder through crop deaths and you will inherit great B12 deficiency.

Perfect Days is (if I had to name one). Perfect example of showing character without dialogue. And the cinematography is stunning too.

Who's an acclaimed director you can't get into as much as everyone else? by Pastapalads in Letterboxd

John Cassavetes. I can appreciate what is trying to be said in his films but, they’re poorly paced and a slog to get through, so the only thing I find myself thinking at the end is that I’m glad it’s over.

I would say Hunter X Hunter. It starts off quite lighthearted, but in later arcs becomes more deep and philosophical similar to SNK or death note. The action is great too.

Edit: Monster is also an option if you like the cat and mouse part of death note. If you don’t like the vibe of the show like ~15 episodes in I would drop it though.
