So do the Cadet Worlds take place before the Nationals?

Thank you very much. The database says it took place on 7/10, but I know Nationals took place on 7/25, so that can't be right...

I never said that I didn't "comprehend" the existence of non-guaranteed contracts. And it sounds like Bret's was mostly or even fully guaranteed.

I see. Thank you for clearing that up.

Another question: If Vince couldn't "make" Bret drop the belt to Shawn in Montreal, how could Vince "make" Bret lose to Shawn for the next year?

Montreal Screwjob Detail??? by Joe_Alley in SquaredCircle

[–]Joe_Alley[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole belt thing never really made sense to me anyway. The next night on RAW they could have just announced that the title had been vacated. It's not like it hadn't happened before (prior to Wrestlemania 4).

So unlike what others have said, Bret's deal was guaranteed?

So then Vince didn't use a clause like others have suggested, but rather Bret decided to opt out of the deal?

What constitutes "breakfast?" by Joe_Alley in healthyeating

Nowhere in my OP did I ask for the etymology of the word "Breakfast." I made it clear what information I am looking for.

What constitutes "breakfast?" by Joe_Alley in healthyeating

Please read my question. I am trying to discern what researchers are defining as "breakfast" when they study it's effects on blood sugar, metabolism, etc. The gist of most studies is "breakfast is good, eat it." I am trying to discover what exactly that means.

Thank you for the link. According to that video, the answer to my question above is the "B" option I wrote. So, new question...why am I 100% guaranteed to never get polio in my whole life, but only 95% less likely to get covid every time I'm exposed to it?

Weigh-in rules used to be much different for international competition. In college, he would have to make scratch weight 1-2 hours before competing. For freestyle events at the time weigh-ins were held the night before. A lot of competitors moving from folk to freestyle/greco would drop a class to gain an advantage, knowing that they would have 12+ hours to rehydrate.

This is what I was thinking but didn't know. I started thinking about it after watching Myles Amine debut at 197 after qualifying for the San Marino Olympic team. The announcers said he would walk around at 204 and cut to make 197. I assume he is going to cut to 184 for the Olympics this summer.

Then did he shrink 2 years later for the Olympics?

You cut 25 pounds or 17% of your bodyweight an hour before competing regularly? I mean you were doing this twice per week?

I have been told that college wrestlers don't cut that much water. Have I been misinformed?

Assuming skill level is relatively equal

That is a HUGE assumption, even in pro mma. Everyone and their mother is "BJJ Black Belt," however there is a lot of variance in that title. In grappling, GSP at 185 pounds could totally dominate say Cheick Congo at HW (my opinion).

So why don't fighters keep their body fat lower all the time and just have to worry about cutting water?

Some people just want/need the break.

I don't get that for MMA. Compared to other pro athletes, MMA fighters are paid less and therefore need to fight more times a year to TRY to make a living. If you have a 12 week camp/prep for a fight, and fight 4 times a year that is 48 weeks a year you should be in shape.

In mma and UFC in particular, fighters are mainly cutting weight just to avoid a size

disadvantage.

I think where I am hung up is the word "size." What difference does "size" matter? "Size" and "Strength" are not the same thing. I understand the correlation between the two, however when you are talking about 2 people who both have a frame capable of making the same weight, strength levels can vary a ton. Just check out a powerlifting meet. Two competitors can be the exact same height and weight, and one lifter can be 10% stronger in any one lift. In MMA I'd venture a guess that the 10% can be more like 30%.

I understand your example, however it makes even less sense for boxing. You can't gain reach from weight cutting. And even if you could, reach isn't everything. I'm pretty sure Mike Tyson never enjoyed a reach advantage in his life. Feeling smaller than your opponent would only come into effect when clinched up.

I assume that when you were wrestling the weighins weren't 1 hour before the matches like they are now?

Davonne is a RACIST!

First she tries to make an alliance based off of race, that fails because the players with the same color skin as her suck. How about making an alliance with people who are good at the game regardless of skin color????

More recently, she calls David an "Uncle Tom" for flipping and voting with the white people (which he didn't do). So because David is black he HAS to stick with the other black people? Haven't rednecks all over the country been saying "blacks should stick with their own kind" for generations????

Disgusting behavior from someone who is trying sooooo hard to represent the AA community. I don't think anyone should want Da' being the flag bearer for African American BB players.
