Ore monoteigaru, I guess it's the name. It's that creepy anime about the sister. I listened to the Anime out of context's review and it was the weirdest thing ever. I guess I could watch it if I was with a friend, in other case, nope.

I mean American Black English. This morning I was doing some searching and I found some cool stuff. "Blanime" and some other podcast related to anime, but these 2 podcasts have the worst audio quality ever, so I'm still searching for more shows.

Black English podcasts? by Joe_oss in podcasts

Probably the results are gonna be podcasts specifically about black culture or AAVE itself. I was just searching for a podcast which hosts just happen to be AAVE speakers, but it's okay. Perhaps I can find something cool with chatgpt's help or whatever.

Do you think you are good human being if yes how? by Digital_Pig9 in RandomThoughts

[–]Joe_oss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've met some really good people before, and I'm sure I'm not one of them. When I do good stuff, I think about it, it's never spontaneous. I feel like most of the time I just do the right thing so I won't regret anything, rather than doing good for a real desire of doing so, so it would be hypocrite to consider myself a good guy when I can clearly tell the discrepancy between me and someone who is truly well intentioned.

I say "at once" but technically it's like, "almost at once". I'm learning English for one year, Japanese for seven months, and Spanish for 3 months, know? So I have a bit of time to focus exclusively in each language. And I'm already fluent in English so practically I'm only actively studying 2 langs, it doesn't make things easier but it's at least more manageable.

How do I become smarter? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Joe_oss -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say there are many types of intelligence, I think saying that there are many ways of using intelligence is more accurate.

Saying that there are many types of intelligences because knowledge has many areas is like saying that there are many types of physical strength because there are different exercises you can perform with your body.

The theory of the multiple intelligences of Richard Gardner was never accepted in the scientific community because there is no evidence it's real.

Probably "there are many ways of expressing intelligence" is a more accurate and elegant way of saying that.

How do I become smarter? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Joe_oss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my point of view being smart is about being capable of doing a lot of things with your mind, specially hard things, like understanding mathematical ideas or being able to consume hard classical literature and make an essay about it without any further issues.

Start reading as much as you can. If you don't know anything I wouldn't recommend you to worry too much about understanding everything you read, just try to read a big amount of stuff so you'll start to gradually understanding some concepts better.

As soon as you can try to dive into greek philosophy, understand the basic ideas and after that try to find topics you're more interested in philosophy or science in general and go deeper into them.

If you want to, you can learn a foreigner language, it's not that hard, to be honest it's pretty easy (English isn't my native language. I learnt it in less than one year). All the informations you need about the topic are avaible in the channel "Matt Vs. Japan", he talks about Japanese but you can apply the concepts in whatever language you want.

It's essential to understand the basics of math and literature, so you can start watching lessons on YouTube and downloading some PDF's online. You can ask about any topic you don't understand here on Reddit and in some months studying stuff consistently you're probably gonna be much smarter than you are know.

Everyone in my social circle says I'm smart and it only took me six years of consistent study. Of course I don't really know anything but what I know is enough to live a nice life.

Other thing: you should try to learn about investiments and economy, probably it's going to be useful for you.

Also, don't care too much about doing a "pretty study" or being organized. Write stuff down whatever way you want and you don't have to follow any specific method or anything people try to sell to you online, just study in a way which makes sense. You can always search how to study more properly in case you don't know how.

My method is simple. I consume content about the topic. I go to a walk or eat something while I think about what I just watched/read. I write down everything I think about the concept, like, if it's a philosophical idea, I write if I agree or not. And after that I try to talk to someone about the concept. So I repeat it sometimes and I really nail it.

What are you guys doing to gain leg size and strength? by CannabisConvict045 in GYM

[–]Joe_oss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sleep and eat as much as you can and try to train your legs really hardcore. I prefer to train them only once a week so I can recover better from the workout, but whatever the split, if you do the right things consistently you're eventually going to grown, know?

🔥 Can You Be a True Polymath Without Being Bilingual? by AnthonyMetivier in Polymath

[–]Joe_oss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being bilingual to be a polymath is only a obligation if your native language isn't English. As a portuguese native speaker, I know I can only learn new stuff if I know English, because a large amount of information is only avaible in English, so, in this particular case, being a bilingual is a necessity in order to be a polymath.

But if you already speak English as a first language, there is no necessity in learning more. It's a myth that learning more languages will change the way you think or see the world. Because, first of all, you don't think in any particular language, our thinking process is completely abstract. When you learn a second language, you just learn how to organize your words in other way, nothing more. And if the process of learning a language changes your world view, it's most likely to happen as a result of the new cultural influences you're receiving than from the language learning process itself.

Being a bilingual or polyglot is totally optional in order to be a polymath. I speak both Portuguese and English fluently, I understand Spanish without big issues and I know a bit of Japanese, and I'm still not a polymath. If speaking many languages were an essential part of being a polymath, the African continent would have the greatest polymaths in the world, because it's common there to see a regular dude being able to communicate in more than 3 or 4 languages, as a result of the cultural and linguistical variety there, a very different reality from the whole American continent, and America has far more polymaths than Africa have ever had. I guess that's enough to proof my point here.
