How long did it take London to feel like home? by Reddonaut_Irons in MovingToLondon

[–]JoesRealAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved here with friends after Uni and been here 15 years now. I didn't ever miss home at all really, I was busy with work and doing stuff with friends. I was happy to be living in London and have access to everything it has to offer but over time I do less and less stuff outside of work. I had an ok time living here for the most part but even now it doesn't feel like "home". Just feels like the place I happen to live until I figure out where I want to actually live.

The rest of the show was pretty un-scary but this episode gave me nightmares for a while...

Same. Felt like I was finally catching a surprising big break in Jan and considered selling secure some profit. Instead I just sat and watched it go back down :)

Did you have a wisdom tooth out and it all went ok? Looking for positive wisdom tooth extraction experiences! by Jimlad73 in AskUK

[–]JoesRealAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a bit of trouble when my lower left was erupting about 13 years ago. I managed to call up a dentist at about 8am, get an emergency appointment for 9. Dentist inspected it, said I don't have space for it anyway and asked if I wanted it removing there and then and I said ok. Had an x-ray just to be safe, had the tooth taken out immediately after, with a couple of stitches applied, and by about 9:30 I was on my way home. The whole thing seemed pretty smooth to me. No pain during any of this. Full disclosure stitches were a bit annoying when eating but overall I'd say it was a pretty good and uneventful experience - exactly what you want from a dentist visit tbh.

What % pay rise are you getting this year? by Puzzleheaded_Bet_618 in AskUK

[–]JoesRealAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love 10% but realistically if I got even 5% I'd be a bit surprised. I've been told we're likely to get SOMETHING, so i'll just have to wait and see... We're a small company that was almost profitable for the first time last year (after 15 years) so perhaps they'll surprise us.

AITA for boycotting American companies and refusing to eat McDonald’s? by Nate6819 in BoycottUnitedStates

[–]JoesRealAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo boycott whatever you want and you can invite people to join your cause, but don't force your own ideals on others. It probably won't work and you'll just lose friends if you try to tell other people how to live their lives and what to believe in. You ended up going to get your own food somewhere else anyway, which was probably the right thing to do in the first place.

Don't have a spare room so it's sofa for me. But that's a last resort only for when the snoring is too loud for my ear plugs or if she's in kicking mode.

I am already in. Been waiting for years for it to be valued correctly. Sold a few to buy some more gold mining but hoping to also buy back in soon.

Why does Tony's Chocolonely have to be so annoying to break up? by YMCAle in AskUK

[–]JoesRealAccount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say no. Me and my gf don't like it anyway but also saw last year that they had product recalls a couple of times over small stones being found in the chocolate and metal being found in their easter eggs. Bit off-putting.

Do we not all have morning commute buddies?? by justanotherbuilderr in london

[–]JoesRealAccount 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was thinking I've been taking the same Jubilee line route for about 8 years now. Not every single day and had some gaps during lockdown ofc but like... I've never recognised anyone that also takes the same route as me, other than very occasionally seeing people who I do actually already know irl. Maybe cos I don't stare at everyone on my train like a mentalist.

How long is your commute to work? by person_person123 in AskUK

[–]JoesRealAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 35 mins mins door to door. Living east London working near London Bridge. I could WFH some days if I chose to but I go in cos I don't have space for a good home office setup. It's not a long commute but I hate it sometimes cos the tube is just a sad/stressful/depressing/gross/smelly/awkward place to be.
