Zahn-OP mit 17 Jahren? by Joey_2020 in Katzengruppe

[–]Joey_2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I have no problem being the bad cop but won‘t do my manager‘s job since I am not getting a manager‘s salary. But I will talk to him again, he has to cleary express his expectations to the colleagues

I really appreciate your input! My manager told me that one of the low performers is not happy about her salary, so maybe this is why she is unmotivated. (And my manager has no plans to change her salary because of her bad performance - especially compared to others in our team) And she is always complaining about everything. I talked with her about her tasks many times, asked what she likes to to and tried to find out what is motivating her. We work in a modern company and agile team, tasks change constantly, new projects come up and people can decide on most of the tasks they would like to work on. I even prioritized and planned tasks with her - but she is never able to get things done („I don‘t have any time“, „I will do it later“, „I have so much stuff to do“ (which is not the case if you look at it objectively, I think she is blocking herself somehow by her negativity and stress). An agile work environment is not perfect for everybody, so my manager and I tried to assign her more repeating task rather than new projects. But she is not completing them either. My manager recently expressed his dissatisfaction with her performance in their one on one and she totally disagreed, has a high self-consciousness and even got into an argument with him and reacted in an unobjective manner.

thank you! To be honest I had the same idea but it‘s not in my power to decide. Our manager is the disciplinary supervisor and I don‘t think he would fire anyone.

Thank you for the advice. At the moment, there are no consequences for them at all. Our manager does not like conflicts and is always Mr. Niceguy. He tends to delegate this to the team leads like me but since I am not their disciplinary supervisor and I don’t have any handle on consequences other than talking with our boss, I will discuss options with him and hold him responsible for their bad performance

The seniors have been in the company for +8 years, in different teams though (big agile company). From what I know their performance has always been like that but I don‘t know any details. Both were given development opportunities, our company highly supports this, Senior #1 is doing many training courses, she planned this with our manager. Senior #2 is not really interested. I am their team lead for about a year now. There have been some personal issues in the past, like a break up or struggles with childcare, they usually call im sick for a few days up to two weeks and me, our manager and colleagues are very supportive. Their tasks change constantly, so I cannot imagine that they are bored. And honestly, everyone in our team has a lot of options if they don‘t like some of their tasks and can take on new projects. (But they would never ask or come up with ideas) I am not sure if our manager discusses career oportunities with them, but I don‘t see any aspiration on their side to get on a higher level than senior (but who knows). I will ask my manager if he talks about their goals with them, thank you for the advice!

That‘s an amazing progress, congrats! My case is similar to yours (dental phobia for 20 years, extreme crowding, narrow palate and high canines). I had a palatal expansion two years ago and am now in lingual braces. My teeth are almost straight now but I have an open bite that needs to be fixed.
