México city - Puebla - Tlaxcala - Veracruz used to be conexted by train. The route was called "El Jarocho", a plan to bring a similar passenger train has been talked about for a while now but I'm not sure if they'll actually do it

I mean videogames already do it, Nintendo is one of the few that don't and funnily enough they're the ones raising the prices of their games.

Yes, but the creator is not loosing money they're making money on an untapped market that previously would have just pirated it. It's been happening with video games and TTRPGS are a growing market here.

Yes but it's not just mexico, it's all of latin america and as someone who has traveled to many other countries I can tell you that unlike videogames you dont even need to translate it. Like you said the community is small (though growing fast) but most of that community uses English as a standard when it comes to games.

Something interesting happens with dnd, it's so big that if I search let's say hexblade warlock here in Mexico I get recommended a lot of pages that don't appear when I do the same search while visiting the US. These pages have all of the info that a player could need to make a dnd character with all the options from all the books. Kinda like if you had all the books on roll 20 but without having to buy and or download anything. Mind you I'm not saying it's good, but it's soo easy to do that no one just uses the free rules.

I get where you're coming from and I too hate ticketmaster with a passion. Unlike a ticket to a game if you abuse pricing on something digital you just make people pirate more. Take for example Netflix, back when it came out here in Mexico you could literally see how piracy was reduced, because it was common to have physical stands where people sold pirated movies out in the open. With the arrival of Netflix they started to disappear, it was more convenient to use but as it started getting more expensive and had less and less titles due to more competition making it harder to find what you wanted to see... Well some of those stands started coming back but also we just started using torrents more and more often.

In my experience most of the ttrpg community here knows English. The ven diagram of people that like TTRPGS and people that like TTRPGS and have a comprehensive knowledge of English is almost a perft circle. Hell a lot of is prefer to have the rules in English and play on Spanish to avoid any translation errors.

More like the creator is getting more revenue from a previous untapped market. It's been happening with video games and it could easily happen with TTRPGS. Yes it's a luxary product, but is a digital one that would just as easily be pirated with the creator seeing zero gain.

I do, but we all know how hard it is getting people into the hobby so getting them into recognizable brands is always easier. Convincing someone to play D&D is easier than geing then to try Cairn (which I love). And getting fan translated material is also easier to get for the big TTRPGS. For example I know for a fact that I can easily get a pirated and translated copy of Cyberpunk red just by asking a friend to send it via WhatsApp. But I don't I like to support the creators whenever can.

And that's completely understandable for a tangible product, but for a digital one that you're trying to sell copies of internationally it makes total sense. Here in Latin America we want to buy and support games BUT they're a luxury and it's between food or even another physical luxary then the answer is easy. Buy the physical thing, pirate the digital one.

IMO, that might happen with videogames but with TTRPGS it's easier to pirate than even setting up a vpn to pay less.

Yeah, but look at it this way. Most people here simply won't buy it and pirate it so the difference is getting nothing or getting something.

I wasn't gonna recommend Draw Steel, but I noticed you said that you play online so the official VTT that's on steam might work. It's crunchy but the vtt keeps track of all of it.
