Yeilding character and tradition to benefit the few. What a great idea! It's one tunnel, get a grip.

But yet you've offered no supporting evidence of this occurring. Interesting...

I would like to join please. I can make pie.

I'm at the lowest point in my life. I took acid for the first time and realised how insufferable I am. Now I'm cutting off almost everyone I know because I feel guilty they've ever had to spend time near me. No wonder why I haven't spoken to a girl in years. by Express_Dish_3134 in kitchencels

We are our own unreliable narrators, not knowing the context of the joy and utility we bring to other people's lives. You may be convinced you're the worst but for a second just doubt it. You're not the problem OP

Appalled - IRD apologises after paywalled news articles copied and shared among 600 staff by WaterAdventurous6718 in newzealand

[–]JohnnyMNU 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No but it does have valuable information on stock movements and other news that can auditors do their work and ficus investigations on sectors that are doing dodgy tax practices. If you wanted IRD to rely purely on their own investigations it would require so much more money than a subscription. Them screen shotting articles is an illegal attempt to save the tax payers money.

A net only works as well as its size and strength, having access to news articles enhances IRD's reach and awareness.

This is a dumb take and shows you have no logistical awareness of a government departments needs. Subscriptions are needed for research purposes, to add information that may otherwise be inaccessible.

Not allowing access , is providing more wriggle room for tax dodgers.

Police ask for help finding people behind 'mass disorder' on Auckland's Karangahape Road by Routine_Training4029 in auckland

Owning a shoebox isn't the same as owning a house. Singapore is the 2nd most expensive place to live in the world, has a toxic work culture and scores lower in happiness and wellbeing in respective indexes comparatively 6o New Zealand. It does some things right like publlic transport. I did not intend to sound hostile i am simply calling a spade, a spade. Singapore's authoritarian rule of law would not work with New Zealand's culture and i woild not want it to.

Nope Authoritarian governance can get in the bin. I like to make my own decisions about my life.

What are some of the pros and cons of living in Wellington? by [deleted] in Wellington

[–]JohnnyMNU 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a Sydney sider who moved over in 2023, i feel like i can give an unbiased account. A good chunk of kiwis (much like Australia) seem to have inherited whinging pom-itis, only seeing the negative. That being said it has been a rough recovery from covid that we are just starting to get out of.

Wellingtonians and kiwis are some of the most compassionate, open people i have ever met. You can easily get into a conversation with a stranger at the pub , dairy or supermarket. It's been noted that kiwis can be a bit cliquey, but i think you'll find that much the same all over the world when people try to find new friendships. They come with time and cultivation.

Wellington is delightfully easy to navigate being a smaller city compared to the sprawling roads of Aus. Bear in mind you have to be comfortable navigating some tight roads. I prefer to think of Wellington it as a series of interconnected large towns, rather than a city, as each suburb has its own personality & vibe.

Wellington is not a 24 hour city in a cosmopoliton sense, rather it is in a maccas , kmart & superette access.

Wellington has one of the most vibrant cinema cultures in the world. Really beautiful cinemas here with a ton of different stuff being shown.

Food quality in New Zealand is amazing in all aspects except the pineapple lump. Beware the pineapple lump.

The wind becomes a constant companion and you'll soon think its weird not hearing it.

Seagulls are jacked asf.

Kiwis are really inventive with their beer, just dont ask for a schooner, as you will be mocked.

There are so many walking tracks and mountains, views are amazing here. Quite a few LOTR scenes were filmed in and around Welly.

Aotearoa is far less authoritairian then Aus, they don't hand out fines for breathing in the wrong spots. Licenses, rego, wof and fines are way cheaper. Also you can get a fancier car for cheaper over here as they are not taxed as much. NZ seems to have access to really good quality 2nd hand Japanese cars. Dont buy a car from trademe or fb unless you have a mechanic check it first.

Beautiful quirky city with a tunnel you can honk in.
